Coming over from PAIF. I had my first US today at exactly 6 weeks and was shocked to learn that I have 3 gestational sacs!!!!
Only 1 had a fetal pole and a heartbeat! It was so awesome to see it flicker on the screen. I'm thrilled to finally have a little bean cooking in there!! The other two sacs had a yok sac, but no fetal pole. The doctor said they could go either way (might show fetal poles in a week, or might never become babies). My next U/S is in 1 week, which will be 7wks exactly.
Anyone with experience with early ultrasounds not showing fetal poles, but growing and showing heartbeats a week later??
Thanks for your adivce! And possible look for me to be joining in the near future!
Re: gestational sacs with only yok sacs.. no fetal pole???
I had an u/s at 6 weeks where they couldn't find a pole or heartbeat. one week later 2 poles and 2 beating hearts!
Congrats either way, but wait it out, you never know!

My first ultrasound showed 1 empty sac and 1 sac with a baby and heartbeat. The next week at my 2nd ultrasound everything was just fine.
Good luck to you!!!
congrats!
my first US was at 5w and a couple days- and it only showed 2 gest sacs - nothing else... no poles, no yolk sacs, etc..... a few days later we did another one- and there were HB's and everything- and now i have my twins.
every day makes a HUGE difference that early - so you just never know.... what I did those few days waiting was just send all my love to my belly and think "TODAY I am pregnant with twins".... that's all you can do.... wait and see.
best of luck!
Love this!! I definately need to send all my love to my belly!
I had almost this exact scenario, only with twins. At exactly 6 weeks, they saw two gestational sacs, two yolk sacs, but only one fetal pole. We were told that the other one probably wouldn't ever show up and to "expect some spotting". We went back at 8 weeks and saw two fetal poles and two heartbeats. Now, at 14 weeks, they are both equally large, healthy, and on-target.
Good luck, my dear!
