Teething?

DS is whiny on and off pretty regularly.  He seriously goes from being silly and happy to whiny and crabby in no time at all, and he's very clingy when he gets that way.

I can't find anything wrong.  Enough sleep, enough to eat, and some days I even abstain from the purees to be sure it's not that.  He chews on everything, but isn't a drooling machine yet.  No teeth breaking through either.

I called the pedi office and they were less than helpful.  Anyway, does this sound like teething?

Re: Teething?

  • My first rarely drooled.  She did however gnaw on everything that she could get her hands on.

The teeth move up and down in the gums way before we ever see any sign of them, so yes, this could be teething.

  • That's teething for us - it comes on suddenly. I find tha going to walks outside distracts him for a while. Otherwise, we play and occasionally on the worst days Tylenol is a help.

Unfortunately, teething can "cause" all the problems.

  • Sounds like it to me.  My doc said ibuprofen is better because it's an anti-inflammatory.  Her first two (bottom middle) have sprouted and are showing about 2 millimeters of pearly whites.  She's done very well, all things considered.
