I'm so proud of my son!!! Some of you may know that he has SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) and is delayed in speech and has a vocabulary of maybe about 6 words and he will be 2 y/o in 3 weeks. He's been in speech therapy now for 3 weeks and he will be getting an OT soon for his behavior issues. Today I had a photo shoot so he spent the day with daddy and they drove to get hair cuts. We have on star in the truck and Jayden loves to listen to us talk on it, so on the way home DH called me so Jayden could "talk" to me. Only we didn't expect him to talk...Well I get on the phone and I said "Hi Baby!!" and I just heard silence. DH told me he was smiling. So I said "Hi Baby!!" again and he said "Hi Mommmmmmeeeeeee!" So then I asked him how old was he. We've been working on that with him for a week now. I said "How old are you Jayden??" and he yelled "Dooooooooooo!!!!!" I said "Awwww, Momma loves you!" and he said "Yuh uuuuuuu!!!" OMG!! I couldn' t stop smiling! When they got home he was still babbling, it was non verbal stuff but you could tell he was enthusiastic and ready to talk so I called my mom to see if he would talk for her. I said Mom someone wants to talk to you. I gave Jayden the phone and I told him, "Say Hi Nana." and he said "Hiiiiiiiiiiiii!!" Gotta love how he sings everything! Then I put the phone to his ear and I said "How old are you Jayden?" and he said "Dooooooooo!!!" I took the phone back and my mom was CRYING!!! She said that was music to her ears!!
This may sound like small stuff to the moms who have 2 yr olds who can speak in complete sentences and hold conversations with you, but to us this was indeed music to our ears. We are so proud of him and I do believe that in no time he will catch up and be talking up a storm and I cannot wait!!
Re: AW AW AW AW AW!!!!!
Awesome! I can't wait to hear DD say hi to me.
That's a great update!
My DD was also speech delayed. She barely spoke a word until 10 days before she turned 2. I had a job interview and called my mom after it was over to let her know I was on my way home. She said Katy had been talking her ear off. I thought she meant Katy was babbling and cooing. When I got to my mom's house, I was astounded. Katy actually WAS talking. It all came out in one day. The floodgates opened and that kid had 6 months of things stored up to tell us. From then on, Katy's progress was amazing. Within 3 months, she was speaking in 8-10 word sentences.
Just this week DD started singing jingle bells (she woke up one morning and it had snowed). She knew a good number of the words and the tune. I was so surprised because when I sang that song to her last Christmas season, she was only 20 months old and only knew 5 words. Even though she couldn't speak last Christmas, she had memorized most of the song!
So just you wait and see, all the hard work you've been putting in will pay off. You may not see it immediately, but one of these days, it will all come flowing out of Jayden's mouth and you'll realize that everything you've done has made a difference.

That's really exciting!! Congrats!
Just think of all the exciting progress he will continue to make.
So happy for you!
Oh, that's just so sweet. You made me tear up reading that. I can tell how happy you were that he had a burst of words there. Go Jayden!
He's super-duper cute, by the way...
