Re: NST

  • I think I just learned (like 2 hours ago) that I might have to do this. I'm still absorbing the info. Mine is based off my umbilical cord being off center from the placenta, is that what caused yours?

At my 20 week US the Dr. (different from my OB) noticed the off center said it was no big deal. When I asked what could it mean she said it could affect the growth. When I saw my OB nothing was noted but I told her, she said that she would have me go for a follow US at 30 wks.

Today (29 weeks) my OB said did they tell you about the umbilical cord (she used the medical term). I said yes and I told you. You are having me go for US at 30 wks.

I asked what this all meant and she mentioned the monitoring weekly. I didn't ask and now wanting to know so what will the monitoring tell us and what will be done if the baby is to small or the monitoring is off?

Is this the same situation for you two? Sorry to hijack this post but I just got this info and I'm confused and worried.

  • Not this time so far, but I had several with DS. They're checking for adequate movement and baby's heartrate in relation, as well as contractions. Mine almost always also went along with a full biophysical profile (u/s).
