Okay- I have limited time so I'll type quickly!
My OB called me on Thursday to tell me that they would induce me on Friday morning at 7. I had to call at 6 and make sure we were still on schedule. Unfortunately when I called they had an emergency c-section and I got bumped to 11:30. DH and I grabbed an early lunch and headed to L&D. When we got there they got us in a room right away and then we basically waited for 2.5 hours before anyone came to see us to get my antibiotics started (I'm group B strep positive).
My OB was supposed to give me antibiotics and break my water. She decided to give me pitocin before breaking my water (which was NOT what I wanted, but she was concerned that I was already 4 cm dilated and that breaking my water might not put me into labor, therefore increasing my risk of infection). They started me on 2ml/hr of pitocin at 2:30 and increased it by 2ml every half hour. I was having consistent contractions but they weren't really painful and certainly weren't putting me into labor. They were supposed to come in and break my water around 5 PM... and we were basically ignored until 7 when I was like uh, wtf? They then told me that the OB on call had gone home!! I completely flipped out and they called her to come back in. By then I was up to 16ml/hr of pitocin and still not in labor. The OB came back to the hospital around 7:30 and broke my water. Essentially from there all hell broke loose.
As soon as they broke my water a contraction started, and it was intense enough to sky rocket my blood pressure. My pain went from 0-60 in about two seconds and because they had pumped me so full of pitocin my contractions were out of control. I tried to get in the tub to help with the pain and had Andy call my cousin/aunt/mom because I couldn't stop contracting long enough to dial my cell. At that point I was having 1.5 minute contractions and about 10-20 seconds in between. My OB said she had never seen labor start so suddenly or intensely. I couldn't stop vomiting because of the pain and the tub didn't help at all.
I wanted a med free labor SO much but it was abundantly clear to everyone at that point that it was not going to be an option. I asked for nubain which did absolutely nothing for my pain. I ended up asking for an epidural which made me a bit loopy (couldn't keep my eyes open) and didn't really dull the pain that much. Quinn's heartrate kept plummeting and apparently my OB had to search for it a few times. My blood pressure was also incredibly high. By about midnight I was just shy of 10 cm and we asked my family to wait in the waiting room. I was still vomiting and Andy and I were trying to work through the contractions together.
Around 2 AM I felt the urge to push and Andy, my nurse, and my doctor helped me through each contraction. By then I had complete feeling again (could move my legs, hips, etc- and had no pain relief from the epidural) and Andy kept telling me that he could see her hair, lots and lots of hair! The pushing itself wasn't nearly as painful as I expected. On my second to last contraction when I pushed out her head something snapped/popped and everyone kind of looked at me with big eyes. I pushed one more time and they delivered the rest of her. They placed her on my chest and it took a second for her to cry.
The placenta delivery was easy and then they spent a while stitching me up. They were concerned about the snap, which ultimately turned out to be me breaking either my tailbone or the cartilage in my pubic symphasis- they still arent sure which). I found out later that Andy was completely traumatized because when it broke they were turning her head to prep for shoulder delivery and he thought they had snapped her neck and killed her right in front of him.
Quinn weighed 8 lbs 1oz, was 20.5 inches long, and has a full head of hair. She had very slight jaundice so we kept a bili blanket on her for a couple of days in the hospital. She is doing great breastfeeding (despite major nipple damage in the hospital) and is sleeping pretty well too! We are completely in love with her, and every day gets better.
Okay I'm impressed if you read all of that! Here's my precious girl:

Congrats Mama! She is gorgeous!
Your birth story sounds a lot like mine (induction, intense back to back contractions, epi not working, high BP - but so worth it!)
My LO also had to have the bili blanket - but we used it at home because her jaundice didn't develop until after we left the hospital. I see the 'glow' in your second picture - we called her our glow worm when she had it on
