omg Leah...I've had it up to here with potty training. The kid knows exactly what to do...I just think he doesn't care. I decided to go balls to the wall this weekend with underwear only-it's been a messy weekend to say the least. Changing nasty toddler diapers isn't appealing either, so I'm at a loss.

It sucks! As soon as I hit post I was like screw this and went and put underwear on her. She too, knows exactly what to do. They just love to play us!
You're so smart, get one out of diapers so you don't have 2 in them, it is not fun!
Did you make a potty chart or give him any kind of reward? I was giving her a skittle every time she went, but really, she figured that out and would make herself go all the time. She is way to smart. I think I'll make her a potty chart in a few minutes and give that a whirl. Tell; her if she stays dry all day she can get a treat (dum dum or something) at the end of the day.
we'll see if we actually get him out of diapers by April!!
I, too, was going to try a sticker chart next. We have been giving M&M's as a reward-but he does the same thing-he'll squeeze out a couple drops just to get one!! I recently uped the ante on poops with lollipops and fruit roll ups as rewards.
The other problem is that daycare, while they are trying to be helpful, won't allow him to be without pull ups-which I think is totally drawing out the process. So any progress we make over the weekend seems to be erased during the week. ugh.

We up-ed the ante for poops as well, too bad in the almost year she has been showing signs of being ready and going on the potty sh has not once pooped on the potty. At this point we have told her if she poops on the potty she can go to the toy store. I mean she is so done potty training minus pooping. She never has a pee accident.....(I hope I didn't just jinx myself!)
That is awful about daycare. Why won't they allow him not to wear a pull up? You're right it is totally cancelling out any progress you make at home.To him a pull up = a diaper.
short answer is she doesn't want to deal with the mess. She'll give a song and dance about cleanliness and sanitary conditions blah blah blah. She's also the first to get annoyed by un trained 3 year olds, so, you know...whatever. He probably won't be there after #2 arrives, so I'm not sweating her.
we've had a couple of incidental poops on the potty-but never consistently.

Probably. 2 in daycare (plus commute costs, etc.) pretty much is my whole salary!! I'll either have to find something evenings or Tom will work more hours or something-haven't really worked out the particulars yet!

that's right...I forgot you did that! Where do you wait tables? I used to wait tables in a former life (high school/college and a short time after I moved to Boston) I'm rusty...but I could do it again!

Are you going to stay at home hen #2 comes?

The 99 in Auburn. I did it throughout high school and college as well. It is like riding a bike, you never forget!
I wok 3 nights a week and usually make 100 a night. Most of the time more, sometimes a little less.
that's something I would totally consider!
Sorry I hijacked your pt post!!
