Trying to Get Pregnant

Silly question re when to start using ovulation tests

I've read that you should start using them at 10 days - but is it 10 days after your periods starts, or 10 days after it stops?  I assume stops, but, I've learned not to assume!

When I was on BC, my period was 5 - 6 days long.  Now that I've been off BC since August, it's 2 - 3 days long.  So, just wondering when to start using the ovulation tests I ordered today.

Re: Silly question re when to start using ovulation tests

  • Cycle Day 10 is what you are referring to. That means 10 days from the start of your period. Cycle Day 1 is the first day of your period - you then count from there for the rest of the cycle.

  • My August period, while on BC = 23 days
My September period, not on BC = 21 days
My October period, not no BC = 28 days

Suppose my body is trying to be the more regular, 28 day cycle, not on BC, vs what the drugs forced it to be when on BC?  The 2 and 3 day periods are odd to a girl who was on the pill for so so so many years!

    Thanks ladies!
