  It was 4 months exactly for us. we tried a few times before that but it never worked out (baby woke up or something else disrupted us...) finally at 4 months, I said enough is enough and we went through with it.

  All I can say for the first timers (especially BFers) is lube. Lube is your friend.

  With my first it was 3 days before seeing my doctor first time post partum. I felt good and was ready and with my second it was about 3-4 weeks post partum. I felt REALLY good then. lol.

  I got the okay from the doc at 6 weeks but we didn't do it until 8 weeks.  And even then it was painful but I was worried if we waited too long I'd get so worked up in my head that we'd never do it again

  Here (at least with my doctor) they tell you at the hospital that as soon as you are done bleeding and are comfortable with it you can resume your sex life.  They say that for most women that usually happens between 4 to 6 weeks and you don't have to wait until your post-partum check to start.  We tried at 3 weeks but I was still too sore.  We were successful at 4 weeks.

  natural m/c March 11, 2011 at 8 1/2 weeks 

  Daughter #2 - January 11, 2012 

  Ectopic pregnancy discovered November 6, 2012 at 6 weeks
  

  Daughter #3 - January 19, 2014

  Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012.  We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
