NBR-ideas?

We're hoping to be in the new house this weekend, but I can't figure out what to do about one thing.....we have no window treatments yet! If all goes to plan, we'll be staying there Sat night-I love my room dark, but can survive a few days without window treatments if I have to. I don't know what to do about DD's room. It's just the window with the trim around it-no brackets/rods, etc to hold any sort of window treatment. Anyone have any ideas of how to rig something up to cover them up? DH said using sheets/blankets, but I have no idea what would hold them up over the window.

  • I've hung sheets by putting pushpins above the top trim.  So there would be 2-3 tiny pinholes up where the top trim meets the wall, you'd never see it unless you were on a ladder.

I believe Bed Bath & Beyond sells temporary blinds that stick on, they are like the nice cellular shades but made of paper (and very cheap).

  • OK. this is super super embarrassing.. and I sort of can't believe i'm typing it.

We moved into our house on our wedding night. Our bedroom has plantation shutters.. but we had taken them down to paint, and didn't get around to putting them back up.

Sooo.. we may or may not have duct taped our hot pink bath towels over the windows.  cuz, well, we couldn't not have window coverings for our bedroom on our wedding night.

  • Haha melissasue! You can get suspension rods and blackout curtains from target. The suspension rods just twist tight enough to the interior frame but you don't have to screw anything. We have these in addition to regular window treatments. It would take you less time to do that then pinning or taping. The suspension rods are a couple bucks, not too bad.
