Oven lock recommendations

Anyone have one?  A quick search on Amazon came up with a couple different ones but I wondered if anyone here had one they liked.

Also, please tell me other peoples toddlers are as "adventurous" as mine!  My niece does none of these things, she's about the calmest kid ever and makes mine look like Evil Kneival.

Re: Oven lock recommendations

  • We have THIS one.  It's done the job and held up well.

Mike never got into things like Alex does.  He didn't mess with the oven or climb on the coffee table or move the dining room chairs around then climb onto them to get things on the counter.

  • We had the one the above poster posted too.. Its the only one you can actually buy at BRU.

We have a weird oven though. Its a wall oven.. but i don't know.. there is something weird about it.. a lot of heat escapes from the top of the door.. and the way the door on ours is, there is a big gap between the door and the upper part where you can attach the lock,  the lock didnt' really install right.. and then since the heat escapes.. the double sided tape never stuck right and then the whole lock got melted and mishapen.

Oh and I couldn't install it on the broiler (easiest part for a kid to reach) door of our oven at all..  I don't remember why.. but it wouldn't stick or something.

So now we don't have anything. Eve never really tried to touch it.. but it makes me super nervous.. luckily we hardly use the oven since I don't cook. :)

  • We don't have one at the new place but had the one linked above at our old house. I took it off after a few uses because it would swing down when I opened the oven so i couldn't close it quickly. My kids never touch the oven and are only interested when I am taking things in and out...so since that thing would get in the way of me closing the door fast it actually was worse than having nothing at all.
