Car seat recommendation for Nanny

I want to get another car seat so our Nanny can take Sydney out of the house when I'm not home.   Right now she uses my car (I work from home).  I have a Britax in my car and dont really want to spend that amount of $$ on a car seat that will only get used every once in a while.

Can you recommend a really safe car seat that isnt the price of a Britax.

Thanks!!!

  • We have an Evenflo Triumph (on sale for $100) and a Safety 1st Air (around $70 at BRU with a coupon).

  • In all honesty, it doesn't matter if a carseat is used once or a million times - the chance of an accident is always there and I recommend going with what you feel the safest carseat to be(to us it is Britax).  Plus, you can get great deals on Britax online.

    I agree with this.

This.  We purchased the same Britax for our nanny's car that I have in mine.

  • Britax is not safer than any other seat, though.  They pass the same tests.

The safest seat is the one that is installed correctly and used correctly.  So it depends on what will fit well in the nanny's car.  You can definitely get something less expensive than the Britax, though.

eta: Graco MyRide, Cosco Scenara, Evenflo Triumph, etc.

  • The Cosco Scenera has always been rated extremely high for safety by consumer reports. It has always been one of their recommended seats. However it has a 40 lb weight limit. The Evenflo Triumph Advance is their least expensive and highest rated seat that goes over 40 lbs.

FWIW my mom was our part time DC til recently and that is what she had in her car.

Thanks!  I def. want one with over a 40lb weight limit since LO is already over 25lbs and she just turned 1!!

I disagree.  ALL carseats must meet minimum safety requirements, however, Britax goes above and beyond and too me the more safety features the safer the carseat is - having it correctly installed is a given no matter which you choose.  DH is a police officer and we did a lot of research as well as talked to a lot of First Responders and Britax was the #1 recommended carseat.

We have two Boulevard 70 CS's for each of our cars and LOVE them!!  My parents have a Marathon and that's a great carseat also and less expensive.

Remember that LO's growth slows down A LOT after turning one. Your DD probably won't hit 40 lbs til she is 3 or 4.
