Was asked to be a guest speaker at a CASA event.
A friend is the Director for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in my state. They train community volunteers to serve as judicial advocates for children in out-of-home placement as a result of abuse and/or neglect. We never had a CASA, but always wondered why.
Anyway - they are having an event and want me and my family to attend - AND she has asked that I be a guest speaker.
My husband and I don't really think that we are anything special - but are honored to be asked to speak.
Thought it would be cool - but now I have to figure out what the heck to say.

We were asked to talk at our agency's support group and we couldn't go

As far as what to say... You can mention that you've been a part of the foster care community in person, and online for years now - and that you've seen the ebbs and flowers, the good and the bad. Share some positives, share some challenges.
