I have asked this question before but please tell me about your stroller! I have been looking at the valco baby tri mode EX twin stroller and then I would add the joey seat. Just wondering if there is a less expensive route.

the valco trimode is not great for triplets - b/c you can't use the joey seat until the child can sit up on his/her own well - so would be about 9mo+ - and it doesn't recline... it's designed for a toddler only.
i have it and it's great - but better for 1+twin moms.
there is a new valco coming out in 2012 with the same config of a 3rd seat, not sure what the price will be. I got mine on CL for $500 - saved a ton that way.
most of the triplet moms I know IRL have a double + single... but I know I'd want a triple stroller b/c i like to get out on my own with the kids - and i would have gone with the Peg Perego triple with the steering wheel.... which is not cheap at all either.
I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.
yes I have a single stroller already, so I could use that with the valco trimode or wear one baby if I'm by myself until the babies are able to sit in the joey. I want a stroller for three so that I can go out alone when they are older.

I have the Peg Perego Triplette for my 18 month old twins and newborn. It would be awesome for triplets because it can hold 3 car seat/carrier things (and basically act as a giant snap n go) or 3 seats.
I got mine on Craigslist for $450 (including a car seat). It's over $1,000 new and the car seats are $250 each new, so used is the way to go!
I have used the Valco stroller with the jump seat but it was for twins and another child that was 20 months older.....I hated it. It got us where we needed to go, but the kids in the bottom seats were always scrunched and kicking the third seat. The kid in the third seat didn't get much shade and it was just an all around mess. You for sure can't put a baby in the jump seat until they are quite comfortable sitting because it doesn't lend much support for the child in that seat. When I used it they didn't have any canopy for the jump seat, but even now it doesn't look that complete. You also couldn't put the back sun shades up very far without crushing the kid in the jump seat. I get the idea of it, but they need to redesign it and make some changes. Hope that helps.....

i have never had these problems... we have a shade for the jump seat (it's not huge but it does the job enough)... and the shades on the regular seats were able to be pulled down without touching the 3rd seat. We love it for twins + toddler.

The triplette is the way to go, but definitely get it used. I got mine at a MoMs sale for $75. Had to get new shades for $60 each, so total still less than $300. Or, a double higher with an Ergo carrier. That's what I do for strolls through the neighborhood. I almost like it more than the triplett.

I can't speak for other triple strollers, but I have a love/hate relationship with my valco. I love that I can take all three kids out by myself. I hate the it is so large and does not fit in the car well. I also hate how heavy it is. It is 23 pounds and now that the kids are all older and weigh 20+ lbs, I am pushing close to 90 pounds whenever I take it out - that is way to much for my enjoyment.
Once they got a little older, but still not old enough to sit up, I added some straps to the joey so it would recline. This, by no means, is a Valco approved option, but it has worked well for us. My kids are now 18-20 lbs and the straps still work when they are sleepy and want to recline: https://www.brandttriplets.com/2011/05/this-is-how-we-roll-now.html
I bought my Valco brand new on eBay for $150 less than other stores. I got my attachments from AllbeeBaby when they were running a 20% sale.
If you decide to go this route, I'd be willing to part with my bassinet.
To start, we have the triple decker (which is basically a triple snap-n-go) which we got on CL for $100. We also have the double snap-n-go which was given to us so we would push 2 and wear 1.
Once next spring rolls around and we're walking around a bit more I think we're going to get the ABC Adventure Buggy. You have to order it from New Zealand and it's expensive but since we will also have a 2 year old when the triplets show up, the flexibility really appeals to me. You have the option of using it as a double, a triple or a quad by swapping out the top seat(s). I've seen these on CL as well from time to time but they are pretty rare.

what a deal! I would love to find it used, but no such luck, yet!
I love my Tri-Mode. When there were little I used the optional bassinet and put two of them in there: https://www.brandttriplets.com/2011/03/this-is-how-we-roll.html

When I first read your post I thought you said you bought it for $150!! I also found it on e-bay for $579.
How much would you be selling your bassinets for?
