Food Allergy

I messed up.

I've been dairy, soy, egg, nut and wheat free for three weeks now. After only a few days, I saw a HUGE improvement in LO. He had a rash all over his face, neck and scalp that cleared up, his eczema subsided and his poops turned from green and mucusy to a normal yellow color. Still a little slimy, but much better overall.

Well, about a week ago I accidentally took a probiotic that 'may contain traces of dairy.' I don't know what I was thinking, but I've taken this probiotic forever and I finally got my refill in the mail and I didn't even think about the whole dairy thing.

Well, ever since then his poops have been back to green with lots of mucus. It's been about a week now and still no improvement! I can't imagine that whatever small amount of dairy was in that probiotic is enough to cause green poops for a week?! Now I'm wondering if he's allergic to something else I'm eating... especially since I saw such fast improvement when I initially cut out everything. Any ideas?

Re: I messed up.

  • If you took it daily, it might take a week to two weeks to come out completely. Give it time. I always noticed the poop took longest to improve, while the skin cleared up first.

Don't beat your self up on this either. It happens and it will probably not be the last time. good luck! I

  • agree.. don't beat yourself up for it.. it happens.  sometimes things like this are just a remainder that you can never let your guard down.
  • Thanks, ladies. I ended up taking LO to the pedi yesterday because his poops progressed to total mucus and nothing else. They think it is a virus and not related to what I've been eating...
