Hey personally, it's their choice so long as the can afford it. However, after what they went through with Michelle's pre-e and josie being so sick I am well and truly shocked that they would be careless and have another one. For no other reason than the possibility of her having pre-e and complications are higher now than they were before.

You would think the scare with their last child would have been a reality check. God did not "give" you anther child. You had unprotected sex and you know the outcome, 19 times over. The older children raise them anyway, so I'm sure she's not worried about taking care of one more.
I don't get it. That is all I have to say. I just don't understand this madness. I don't care about their religion, or parenting philosophies... I just don't understand how a woman could stand being pregnant/recovering/etc. for (essentially) 23 years! I think that is a little nuts. (Or maybe I am just a whiney wimp...but I am struggling with this 9 month thing!) I could not imagine doing this 19 more times.

Wow. I can't believe she's having another one after all the issues she had with Josie... I don't get that at all. She had said in an episode awhile back that she was beginning to go through menopause so she wasn't sure if she could conceive again but would welcome another child is "God saw fit."

This is exactly my take on it.
But it's all in god's plan!! ::eyeroll::
Yeah God provided this baby for you. He also provided the people who invented condom, birth control pills, vasectomies and tube tying.
I guess I'll be the lone voice from the other side. I say good for them and I wish them nothing but the best. Their kids are happy and well taken care of. They are growing into good, moral people who have learned the value of hard work and how to live without debt.
Also, I think mocking their religious beliefs is really low. They DO believe that God gave them their children. Of course they know how babies are made, but their personal and religious belief is that all of their children are gifts from God. They aren't the only people who believe that.

1. Yeah. By each other. The older kids parent the younger ones, which is yet another reason why they make me sad. Then again, I guess they don't know any better.
2. I don't see where anyone mocked their belief that all children are gifts from god. I roll my eyes at the fact that she goes on and on about god's plan after already encountering so many issues with her last pregnancy. If I were religious at all, I would think that might be a sign from god to slow your roll with the baby making.

I agree with you BUT I also agree with Salt and OP's who question her decision to have more children based on previous complications with Josie. I also personally think that she's nuts, lol. I can't even comprehend having that many children.

I think you should know the consequences of having unprotected sex, you get pregnant! They made that choice and took that risk. Sure many people have the same views that children are gifts from God, I may even share this beleif. However, it is careless to put her life & another childs in jeopardy. Mocking of religion has nothing to with it. It's logic.

It's not so much mocking their beliefs but God doesn't alway provide in the way you want. My dad had a client who was a "God will provide" type. The guy kept making some really stupid business moves and when my dad would try to tell him he still said "God Will Provide!" Let's just say that what god provided him with was a chance to slip away in the night and leave behind a lot of debt and pissed off people.

I have nothing against people having babies and believing their gifts from God. I'm so thankful for our LO and I thank God everyday for being allowed to participate in the perpetuation of life. However, I believe it is impossible to really take care of 20 kids. There is no way that as parents they have the ability to give each of their kids the attention they need. I'm sure you're not implying this, but there is much more to child-rearing than being financially able and stable. I find that there is something a bit twisted about the Duggers and it has nothing to do with their religious beliefs.
To each their own I suppose...While I do believe God has a plan, I also believe that the Devil and man interferes. I'm not saying the Devil had a hand in their 20 kids, but that it wasn't just God. God gives us all free will. What you do with that free will, will have an impact on the outcome of things. I guess I just don't think it's enough to say, well it's what God wanted with no sense of responsibility for personal choice.
Like someone else said, they are burdening the older kids with the responsibility of raising the younger ones...and I don't think that's right. As for how they afford it...well I seriously doubt they can afford to send 20 kids to college, but of course they will qualify for all types of grants, perks and privileges. Also with all those dependents I doubt they pay out much in taxes...so it's probably really easy to live debt free when you get to keep the majority of your income. Oh well, whatever works for them.
All of that being said, I wish her a healthy pregnancy and child...bcs the child didn't ask for this.

20th kid = more content for their TV show. I never thought for a second they would stop having children, even after Josie's ordeal and Michelle's pre-e, especially when it makes for good TV. Jim Bob and mini JB (Josh), never miss a chance to have the camera crews around. That being said, I'm kinda obsessed with all of them. It's like watching a crew of aliens every week - what will these funny people do next?
The video that people.com put up shows that Josh and Anna also have an announcement to share. Oh goody!
Wow, wow, wow. I come from what I think of as a large family (6 kids). I would describe my parents in those days as "hippie Christians," yet they still had the good sense to stop after 6.
I think what gets me most about having so many children, is there is no way that TWO parents can give all those kids the love and attention they deserve. I liked being from a big family, but I know that I missed out on some things because Mom and Dad were busy with the younger ones, and that's only 6!!
Not to mention, just because you CAN get pregnant at 45, doesn't necessarily mean you should, especially if you have so many already. Ugh, ick. NO.

Jinger...with a "J." She clearly isnt on The Bump! ROFL...bcs she might have been crucified for even considering not spelling it the right way. And how do you skip Jennifer??? Maybe it will finally be used! LOL

Ditto. I never understand the extreme level of criticism of this family. They obviously love and care for their children. With so many truly bad parents in this world, why do so many people judge the Duggars? I typically don't get into debates and I don't have time to provide much input on this one (due to work committments), but just wanted to throw in my two cents.

This is totally mind boggling to me as well. Good for them that they still make time to do it
