  Computer games (wii, xbox), Bop-it / Bopit bounce, pogo sticks (yes, I know three 9yos who have them!), sports stuff (t-shirts with their favorite teams).  skateboards / scooters

  Depends greatly on the kid.  I'd call the parents for hints.

  Call the parents and ask!  I have a 9, almost 10 year old boy to buy for and I guarantee you he wouldn't be into ANY of the stuff previously listed, LOL.  I asked him myself and he told me books, so I'm getting him a barnes and nobles gift card.

  My 9 year old still loves legos. He can't get enough of them. They vary in difficulty and come in all different themes. He also loves Hexbugs and Beyblades.
