Question about Little Gym bday party

DD's birthday party is next weekend and we're having it at Little Gym.  They give us 1.5hrs.  The first hour is gym activity, then that leaves us 30mins at the end to do whatever else we need to do.  We're not doing food, just cake and drinks.  Do you think 30mins is enough to do cake AND open gifts?  We could let all the guests eat cake while DD opens gifts, but I want her to be able to enjoy cake with her friends.  She'll probably have 8-9 gifts to open.  Is 30 mins enough to eat cake and open gifts?

Re: Question about Little Gym bday party

  • We have been to a Little Gym party before.

We had 30 minutes to eat pizza, cake and open gifts.  It was very rushed and they only got to open a few of the gifts before time was up and a new party needed the room.

~after 34 cycles we finally got our 2nd little bundle of joy~

  • I have been to a few Little Gym parties; no one opened gifts at the party.

  • I had Kayla's party at the Little Gym and we opted not to open gifts at the party, no one seemed to mind and it made the last half hour of eating/chatting a lot more laid back.  We were still rushing to get out of there - I should say we did food and cake though.  The kids had an absolute blast!  GL

  • Thanks ladies, I was thinking we should probably just save the gifts for later.  I would really hate to get started on the gifts, only to have to stop halfway through because our time was up.

  • Hmmm...I have been to a few Little Gym parties and DD1's second birthday was there, but I've never seen anyone open gifts.  They just loaded them on to a cart for us to open them at home.  I think 30 minutes would be fine for cake.  Since you aren't having food, maybe there will be enough time for gifts too.  We had a great time at DD's Little Gym party - I hope yours is a success too!
  • We've been to one party there, and it was incredibly rushes without gifts. Just getting kids in the room, and hands washed, used up 15 minutes. So they sung happy birthday, wolfed down cake, all while the poor Mom was distracted because they wanted to settle up the bill and get a move on.

  • I had the girls party at the Little Gym and we did not open gifts.  The half hour was perfect for pizza and cake.
