I know it's been asked a million times before, and the posts on the baby showers board are always the same... so what have you ladies gotten for your hostesses? My baby shower is this weekend and I completely spaced!
For one shower, we just got each hostess some cute yummy mixes and stuff from williams sonoma and kitchen towels/potholders because we knew they'd like them. We are also having a "couples' shower hosted by couples, so we might get them each a nice bottle of wine and gift certificate to dinner or something like that. If you know the hosts, I think it's nice to get them something they'll actually use, rather than just going cutesy-themey. However, I have done the "for your next shower..." gift of shower/bath stuff from bath and body works, and that went over well and is also good if you have lots of hostesses or don't know them all that well. I think the most important thing is a heartfelt thank you note - that is going to be much more appreciated than $25 or however many dollars worth of clever gifts.
It's my mom and MIL that are hosting it so I do know them well. But I really can't think of anything that would be really special. Maybe a trip to things remembered is in order.

Now: I have been having a really hard time with this, too. My SIL is throwing me a shower and I got her a Vera Bradley (her fav) change purse and will put a gift certificate to a spa in there.
My mom and sister are throwing me a second shower, and obviously I know them well, but they are impossible to shop for. My mom hates smelly stuff, but loves art and cooking, so I am thinking about something cooking related. I bought her a Kitchenaid mixer for mother's day this year, so maybe an accessory for that? For my sister, I was thinking about a date night out for her and her hubby to a really nice restaurant. Still undecided.
I agree that the thank you is more important than the gift, though!
I got them each a thing of bubble bath (sweet sale at Bath & Body Works plus a coupon made them $4 each) and one of those scrubby pouf things and a rubber ducky. I'm also putting in a bottle of wine and some fancy chocolate and a candle and putting it in a nice basket. It's a bubble bath in a basket. I'm going to have a note that says "For your next shower..." and then on the inside it will say "...or bath, but if you want to drink in the shower I won't judge you." Or something to that effect. That note probably won't work for most people but it works for these lushes.
We are having a co-ed shower and my family is hosting ours. I got my Dad and brother itunes gift cards, and my Mom and sister gift certs for mani/pedis.
I realize they arent the most sentimental gifts, but I figure at least I know they will be used/enjoyed!
I had one shower with 4 hostesses, so I got everyone a great holiday scented candle from Bath and Body Works and gift cards to Starbucks.
Married 08.06 Started TTC 05.08 Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH DH: perfect 1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p 2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!
My friend is hosting my shower and she is also going to be my labor coach so I want to get her something really nice. She works in an office and listens to her ipod on a little tiny docking station, but she needs a better one. So I'm shopping around for that. My sister is helping her with the shower and I'm thinking a Pandora bracelet for sister, although I have no idea how much they cost yet
I have a shower this weekend and there are several hostess'. I would love to have given them more, but was just not able to. I am giving each of them a candle, hand soap, and decrative thing for the soap all from Bath and Body Works. They have some sales and coupons and was able to get each gift for about $10.
I'm glad you asked this because that's what I'm trying to figure out at the moment as well. MY shower is this Sunday and I've been trying to come up with something more creative than bath salts and spa days. That's all the recomendations i keep finding on the net. Not that there is anything wrong with those, but my BFF is going way out, she hand made each invite all the decorations are made out of useable quality baby items. The flowers are made out of these ultra plush baby cloths with eating utensils for the stems, the center pieces are made out of socks and bibs and other things. Then she was telling me about this chandelier she's making out of Advent bottles (Per my registry req) with twinkling lights inside and silver rattles amongst other stuff.
I am definitely excited to see all these things and how it comes together.
It's just really putting me on the spot to come up with an equally amazing thank you gift. I'm trying to creative also but I'm drawing a blank. I'll also take any suggestions for any of you creative mamas out there. I hope to get some ideas from your posts. I am on a budget I'd like to stay under $200.
My MIL and Dad's wife hosted the family shower but I know that my dad and FIL helped them get everything together. So I picked out some cute grandparent brag books and got each couple gift cards to Bonefish Grill. They were not expecting gifts at all so it was nice to give them some appreciation for their hard work. HTH!
Re: Hostess gifts
Nice bath robes for the first shower (the hostesses were older) with a card that said "For your next shower"
Shower this weekend is being hosted my BFFs and they're getting a bottle of their fav wine wrapped in a pair of knee socks
Have fun at your shower!!

I was at Tuesday Morning and lucked out and found these white platters that you can change out the ribbon:

They were less than $10 each! If I didn't find these I was going to get them the inital candy dishes:

Gift certificates for pedicures or to the movies are always a nice gift too.
