So the morning sickness is kicking in right on schedule. I had to stay home from my exercise class this morning and today is basically going to suck. My phone won't charge either, so I can't even occupy myself online while laying uselessly on the couch.
So I have always in the past just toughed it out, but now I have two toddlers plus a job nights...I just really don't want to be sick all the time for weeks unless I have to, ykwim. Do you know if OBs will typically prescribe zofran for someone who just has nausea and isn't constantly puking, or do you pretty much need to have hyperemesis to get it? I'm just trying to gauge whether it's worth a phone call or if I'll be laughed out of the office for trying.
Re: Question about zofran
I never puked with either pregnancy, but basically felt like I could at any moment. With DS it was until 14 weeks, and it wasn't until after my d&c with Tiny, and I had no issues getting Zofran from my docs office. I didn't take it unless I felt like I really needed it, but I did need it to not feel like I was going to die. Zofran actually didn't do alll that much, but it took the edge off and I was more confident that I was just going to feel terrible, but not get sick. Meclizine is OTC and you can get it behind the pharmacy counter and it actually helped more than the zofran at times.
Just make sure to take some colace with each dose od zofran, as it will stop you up, for realz.
Ditto all of this! The generic version saved my life, but also caused one of the most painful experiences of my life, including childbirth.
Me too! I had to go to the ER. It was so awful.
uhm, I'd see if there is something else to give a shot before hitting Zofran.
I don't know if you were around in August when I was stuck in a foreign country with no way to get relief from the constipation that lasting almost 3 weeks. Seriously. It was deadly. I much preferred throwing up to being back up in so much pain.
I know here you can get stuff easily, but for real, if I were to have another I'd ask for something else to try before Zofran. Especially if you aren't vomiting all day long.
