Buy an iPod Touch for my 4 yr old?

The same iPod Touch I have, 2nd gen 8GB, is on sale on Cowboom right now for $49.99.  I am suddenly considering buying Ty his own for X-mas and reclaiming mine since the kids fight over it and I never get to use it.  Hmmm...  Only $50 is cheaper than the LeapPad I was considering for him....

Re: Buy an iPod Touch for my 4 yr old?

  • My sister had the touch and then bought the iPhone. Her kids LOVE using the touch for games and puzzles. I say do it!
  • Loading the player...
  • i would buy it. The other manager at work had one yesterday and listens to music on her overnight.  I like it b/c you dont need headphones.  I am going to have to check it out
  • I'd probably get it, especially since you mentioned that he likes to use it to help him calm down.
  • Blah!  I snoozed, I losed.  They have moved on and it is no longer available.  Oh well.  Maybe a better one will come up later and I can buy myself a better one and give him mine.  Put a new cover on it, he wont know or care the difference.

I put a lot of yoga and relaxation music on it.  The other night at 1am when he couldn't calm down to fall back asleep, I put some relaxation/sleep music on it and stuck it under his pillow.  He stopped crying and went back to sleep.  iPads and iPods are a wonderful tool for kids who have social, emotional and speech difficulties.  But like everything else, there is a balance.

  • Darn it, darn it.  Now it is a 32GB 2nd gen for $70!  Buy it?  Or hold out to see if a 3rd gen come up
