My name is Kacey and my parents also considered Ashtin. If I had been a boy, I would have been named Philip Luke.
Married to my best friend 6/5/10
BFP #1 9/7/10, EDD 5/14/11, Violet born 5/27/11.
BFP #2 4/9/12, EDD 12/16/12, M/C Rory 4/24/12.
BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
I was named after my grandmother, Laverne, so I would have an L name regardless. I'm Lisa, but my mom was also considering Lauren and Lynn. My cousin ended up with Lauren (also named after the same person).
My Mom says that my name was Mallory for 4 days but every time she called me Mallory she didn't think it sounded right. My Aunt helped her come up with Whitney--which I definitely prefer!
I am the last of three girls and they were pretty sure I was a boy. They were going to name be Patrick after my father. When I came out they were going to name me Patricia and had a last minute name change and went with Meghan. Pheww. No offense if anyone is named Patricia. Just don't see my self as a Patty or Trisha.
I would have been Mia Maude if not for my dad. They kept Maude, because it was my grandma's name, but my fn is Samantha. My younger sister is going to be Ariel Rynn, but is Tabitha Rynn (this was before the little mermaid). My brother was going to be Jesse James, but is Nathanial James(thank god!).
My mom was pulling for Cassaundra. My dad on the other hand, was dead set on Scooter. Not as a NN. I cannot even come close to imagining the torment I would have gotten for that as a kid. I have no idea how they compromised on the final result.
My MIL told me once that she thought about naming MH Michael Dennis to go with his sister's name, Michelle Denise. Thankfully she decided not to do that.
My mom considered Kerry Don (ick) if I had been a boy, and Melody DeAnn was her top girl name. In stead she tried to make my great grandmother's name more feminine and changed Willie Mae to Wyllena Mae. (Wuh-leena) I go by Billie. My younger sister is Keri Donn, and the youngest sister is Audrey Michelle. Love the names of my sisters, but really? Wyllena?? uugh.
My mother only picked out Chasity Rose. She always believed I was a girl and refuses to say there were any other names she entertained.
My brother was supposed to be a girl but she always insisted he was going to be a boy and only picked out Christopher Ross.
I don't know if I believe these stories or if she just doesn't remember the names that she didn't love and felt were unneeded. I'd imagine she would have somehow picked out a name for the right gender if needed, lol.
They considered Ashley before an aunt told them I'd be taunted as "ass-ley" in school. Which seems ridiculous to me now, but I'm sort of thankful, as I don't think I'm an Ashley.
My mother lobbied my dad long and hard to name me for her favorite aunt (Chearca) but my Dad flat out refused!
So, my mother moved on to her next favorite name--Pamela while my dad worked on her to name me Jennifer. Long story short, as she was waking up from the anesthesia following her c/s the nurse gave her a polaroid of me in the NICU with a giant name banner--Jennifer Diane.
She was beyond ticked, but I'm thankful to not be Pamela!
I was almost Stephanie Lorraine. My dad just wasn't feelin' it, so he told my mom to keep looking. Low and behold, 8 months pregnant she was dropping something off at the post office and liked the name of the street. Lol So, Allison Marie it was. I'm glad, I like my name a lot (except for my middle name).
Seriously. My parents aren't even the hippy type, but for some reason my mom really wanted to name be Blue. And call me Bluebell as a nickname. Oy.
Thankfully, they just went the family name route and I was named after my grandmother.
Married 6/28/03

No more TTC for us. We are done, and at peace, as a family of 4.
"Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but – I hope – into a better shape.” — Charles Dickens
If I was a boy I would have been Julio. Yes, Julio, after 3 boys there were done with important males in the family to name me after. Julio Arthur.
My mom's girl name choices were Rachel or Rebecca. My dad hated both of them. My mom said to bad pick one. He said well I like Rachel a little better the Rebecca. So that's my name Rachel, because my dad hated it less.
My mom was set on naming me Brittany Rochelle, but my grandfather talked me out of it. He said the first name would always make him think of a Brittany spaniel, and he just couldn't deal with that. I'm happy to not be named Brittany because I would have been one of 5 or so every year in school. As it turned out, I'm Courtney Renee.
My dad wanted to name me T. Shannon. Yes, you read that right. Tess was also in the running, which I don't mind. My mom was dead set on Alexis, and here I am. Keith was a top runner if I was a boy.
I think I was always gonna be Kelly. My brother's name is Jason. My dad didn't like it, but after watching my mom go through a difficult labor and then eventual c-section, she let her name him whatever she wanted, lol. My sister is Katie. I was 6 when she was born, so I remember she was gonna be Andrea or Rose. Katie so suits her; I'm happy they went with that. She was gonna be Adam as a boy, which I hated then and always did. Then my DH brought it up in my last pregnancy, and I ended up loving it. We named our DS Adam.
My brother and sister are both "P" names so they were debating between Paige and Patricia (Tricia) but then my sister came up with Kristy and it just stuck.
I was going to be Jennifer, but then good friends named a baby Jennifer and I became Ashley, the name of a friend's dog that they liked! OK! This was 1978, ahead of the 1980/90s Ashley craze. If I had been a boy, it would've been adam.

I was supposed to be Victoria, instead they went with Jessica. If I'd been a boy, I was supposed to be Benjamin. Good name choices but I'm definitely a Jessica, not a Victoria!
I HATE my name Cassandra "Cassie" ... my dad wanted to name me Mercedes and call me Sadie Yeck but mom vetoed that one... she also wanted to name me Sophia and call me Sophie... I really wish she did
Proud babywearing, breastfeeding, vaccinating SAHM of 2U2!
The whole time my mom was pregnant, my name was going to be Margaret (nn Maggie). On the way to the hospital, she told my dad that I was a Meg, not a Maggie. Thus, my name is Megan.
I found my mothers pregnancy journal a few years back and was horrified to find out that she was really hoping I was a boy and had planned to name me Bartholamue ( I forget the spelling). Thank goodness I never had to brave highschool with that name.
My dad wanted to name me Shay (ugh!!) and my mom wanted to name me Rhiannon (not so bad). My sister was gonna be Eleanor until my dad vetoed it. I like my first name, Bronwyn, but I DON'T like my middle name all that much, Lara, just because my older cousin's first name is Laura and they are said the same. My sister ended up being Arwen which suits her.
My FH is Nathan but his dad wanted to name him Nathaniel which his mom vetoed. He's glad because he detestes Nathaniel. lol.

my parents didn't know if i was going to be a boy or a girl. they had the name brian picked out for a boy, but no name for a girl. my mom ended up having an emergency c-section and when i was born the doctors said to my dad, 'it's a girl! what's her name?' and my dad said, 'um, katie!' and thus i am katie. my middle name is my mom's middle name.
supposedly after the anesthesia my mom woke up and said to my dad, 'what did we have?' and he said, 'a girl.' she asked him, 'what's her name?' and he said, 'katie.' and she said 'okay' and went back to sleep!
