2nd Trimester

Baby extremely active, cause for worry?

My baby is extremely active tonight, about 2 or 3 times as active as usual. I'm 23 weeks along and this is baby #3 so I know babies become more active as pregnancy progresses.  Just can't help but feel a little worried bc it seems to be such a sudden increase in activity.  Has anyone else had this happen?  Think its any cause for concern?  Thanks ladies!!

  • It definitely happens to me.  He'll get super active.  It actually make me laugh when he kicks that much and so hard.  Then he'll be doing summersaults it seems like.  Then other days he's uber mellow.  I never thought of it as being something to be concerned about......

  • There's no need to worry about baby's movements until 28 weeks. If your baby is moving around that much that is a very good thing.Don't worry about it! Baby is just fine. But like the PP said pregnant women tend to worry a lot lol and yes its true and completely normal.

  • My little bean was up all night the other night, kicking and punching and going crazy, and then super active the next day too. I called my mom to see if I should worry, and she pointed out that its probably a sugar high from the fistfuls of Halloween candy I've been eating :)

  • I feel like one of the very few people on this board that doesn't feel anxious or worry over every little thing... As long as i feel movement on a daily basis I'm fine, I don't think there's any reason to get yourself stressed out over every little thing that happens in pregnancy (I mean... unless it's OBVIOUS stuff like severe pain or blood).

  • Was there any change in your activity level or diet or anything?  Sometimes that can have an impact on baby.  But it's probably not something to worry over too much.

  • I had my monthly check up today and Dr. exact words were:

"You can complain to me about anything you want but I won't listen or care if you tell me the baby is too active!  Its a wonderful thing!"
