Success after IF

Anyone use an abdominal binder after a CS?

If you wore an abdominal binder (kind of like an industrial belly band) after your c-sect, when did you start wearing it (day of CS, day after CS, not until you got home?) and did it make a difference?

Someone gave me one to borrow and I'm hoping it will help get through those first couple of weeks.

  • I wore one and it was wonderful.  I tried doing a few things without it and you could definitely tell that it was helping to support the whole area.  I put it on after I was allowed to shower but I can't remember how long I wore it for, it was at least a few weeks.

  • They gave it to me in the hospital.    I think the day after (I had both my c/s's later in the day so the next day was like 12-18 hours later)

I wore mine for like 3 weeks after #1.    I just felt all loose without it on.

I wore it for probably just under 2 weeks after #2.

  • they didn't give me one, but I had one of those vanity binder things (can't remember the name) and I tried using it a week or two afterwards...i remember it helping while standing, but it was impossible to sit comfortably in it (at least for me)
  • The nurse I had right after my c-section gave me mine. She told me it would help with all the pain and with keeping my hands away. It worked great! I loved it and wore it for 2 weeks. It didn't make my tummy smaller or anything but I felt like it reminded me to take it slow.
  • the hospital gave me one the day after my c-section. I didn't use it consistently in the beginning b/c I was so sore, but after a couple of weeks, I loved it. Mine was super comfortable so sitting wasn't a problem. It held everything in and I didn't feel as jiggly.

I wish I had known about the hip ones (saw it at the Babies R Us). I feel like my hips expanded since pre-pregnancy. Bottoms fit differently now.

  • I wore one starting a day or so after my CS and it was awesome!  It did help to make my belly go back to normal but the biggest benefit is that it made my "insides feel like insides".  I felt like my internal organs were all over the place and the belly binder just made me feel tighter in the core.  Worth every penny IMO!!

  • I asked for one in the hospital because people told me it helped with the pain and would help to get my stomach back to normal. They gave it to me the day after my c/s and the nurse put it on for me. It was only a few hours and I was begging my Dh to help me take it off. I found it to be more painful and uncomfortable. I did wear it on and off for the first week but really didn't feel like I got any benefit from it.
