2nd Trimester

Opinions please!

Hello ladies. So I'm on the Babies R Us Cyber sale and they have the Chicco Keyfit 22 Travel system (stroller and infant car seat) on sale for $250. I want to jump all over it, but I'm leery about it. Should I get the Keyfit 30 instead that would hold up to 30lbs as opposed to 22lbs. Also, someone on another board mentioned something about the Keyfit 22's will be expiring sooner?? I have no clue. This is my first baby so I would love your thoughts on this. Should I get it for the price or spend the extra money to get the keyfit30??

  • I have the 22 and got it in December 2009.  It expires in 2014, I don't know if that's any sooner than the 30 would expire.  Just so you know, the 22 weighs 9 lbs by itself and lugging around almost 30 lbs was a lot!  I can't imagine having a 30 lb baby in it plus at least 9 lbs.

  • Nevermind ladies- just found answers to my questions. It expires in 2014, and I plan on having more than one baby so I probably won't be getting it since I won't be able to use it after this one.

  • My daughter got too tall for her seat (30") way before she outgrew the weight limit. That may or may not help you.

  • No matter what seat you get, you probably don't need one that actually goes to 30lbs. Just to give you an idea, my dd is now almost 18 months old and is only 22lbs. She's been in her rear facing convertible seat since 8 months because the carrier was just too heavy to lug around, and she preferred the bigger seat due to her height then, and she's been much happier in the car since then because she can now look out the window.

We have a Bristax that only goes to 22lbs
