Haha! I was just thinking about this the other day...how I was so determined to be "good," but after being so sick during the 1st trimester now that food is appealing to me, all the rules are out the window.
The ones I've broken:
I've had a turkey sandwich (granted, it's been grilled) at least once a week for the last couple weeks
I had albacore tuna - apparently that's the "wrong" kind of tuna to eat when pregnant?
I've had dressings with egg in them ... like... RANCH!!!
I've also had egg salad and chicken salad, made with... mayo!!! That has raw egg in it!!!
Don't drink enough water. Don't exercise enough.
I have a cat... I don't change the litter box, but he does sleep on the bed with me.
So this means that the meal I had planned after giving birth doesn't really matter anymore, since I'm not really restricting myself from the things I wanted. Oh well.
ETA - I realize that the raw eggs in these dressings are probably pasteurized so I'm not really breaking a rule, but it still feels wrong since the doctor told me to stay away from them.
I know some of us walk around for 9 months with bubble wrap around our bellies while others find their own limits....
My current violations :
I eat Cesar salad. In fact, I am eating one RIGHT now. Delicious.
I take semi-hot baths. If I don't I shiver my booty off in the tub.
I wear stilettos although they're not great for circulation.
I take my prenatals....at horribly sporadic times.
I'm on a OB-formulated "quit smoking" plan. I couldn't do it cold turkey
So:
What kind of violations are you guilty of!?
Why in the world no Caesar salad?!
The no rule there is actually more concerned with homemade Caesar dressing which sometimes has raw egg in it. The restaurant and premade dressings are fine though...just another one of those food no's not being spread around the right way--- like soft cheese when it should be unpasteurized cheese. Ugh.
My Dr. said ceaser salad is normally a-okay. Most places don't use raw yolk anymore... Thank gosh because... I crave it daily.
I am terrible with my prenatals. Like, really bad.
I smoked early on (for a majority of the time unknowing I was pregnant). I quit cold turkey and I sometimes go effing insane.
I love lunch meet. For a brief stint, mid-1st tri, I was eating turkey subs from Subway 2 times a day for several days. It was either that or feel terribly nasueas and not eat.

i have a sweet tooth from hell and its been pretty much my life growing up even though weeks 8-14 i wanted more salty snaks im bak to cookies -condense milk -brownies ..
its kinda ridiculous the amount of sugar i take in..
ocasional sip of wine..
def hot showers..
little excersice..
heavy lifting..
my cat sleeps on me..but the hubby cleans the poop :P
I figure that my grandmother had 7 healthy babies, and she lived on a farm, and worked the fields and did the chores during her pregnancies, so why the heck would I be worried about eating a piece of ham or drinking my extra large coffee every morning.
This, exactly! I still have my morning coffee, don't exercise (unless the half miles trek to and from class 4 days a week counts), I've had a sip of wine and it was DELICIOUS, and probably don't drink near enough water..oh and what are these Prenatals you speak of? lol. I figure how many women have done this through history and been just fine, I'm making appropriate adjustments.
I didn't take my prenatals until I was like 16 weeks bc I was so sick. I started drinking coffee again around that time, and sometimes I indulge in more than my allowed 2 cups. I have also been eating a lot of choc candy (thanks Halloween) and I know that adds to my caffeine intake.
This post and accompanying thread made me laugh for the first time in weeks! At 27 weeks, I feel like I have gotten more advice, stern lectures, info from "know it alls" who do EVERYTHING better than me during their pregnancy. Thank you ladies!!!! XO
*I drink diet coke/diet pepsi/diet whatever almost every single day. So, not only am I getting the caffeine, I'm also ingesting the fake sugar poison.
*I don't drink enough water. I hate water.
*I haven't been to the dentist and I probably won't. I really, really, really hate the dentist. I mean, I know most people do, but I hate it worse than most people.
*I don't exercise nearly enough.
*Sometimes I forget to eat.
*I sleep in every position you can think of, even on my belly sometimes. But now, Liam is starting to get angry when I do that, so he makes me roll over.
I sometimes skip my prenatals,...mostly because I'm lazy.
I lift heavy stuff (including my 25lb toddler).
I eat soft-serve ice cream.
I paint my nails probably once every 1-2 weeks.
Um, I'm sure there's more that I can't remember. I was decently cautious with DD, but once I realized how silly some of these no-no's were, I relaxed. The funny thing is my SIL is now pg with her first and she's pretty uptight about what she eats/drinks. I'm waiting to see what she'll do with the party sub from Subway that is covered in cold lunch meat.
Coffee every day - cafe au lait whenever I can get it
improperly heated deli sandwiches
medium rare steaks
brie, feta, and goat cheese on the occassion
red wine once in a while
had to have pain killers with dental care (they were approved by my midwife, but most people would still judge)
And I don't feel guilty about any of it. I can only imagine what our parents did while they were pregnant with us and we all made it. Actually my husband seems to believe that my mom must have drank slightly less when she was pregnant with me than my siblings : ) I think she probably drank more. Even my husband's mother who gave up chocolate during both her pregnancies admitted to drinking because they didn't tell her not to.
I've had a side C-salad on occasion, and that's pretty much the only 'vegetable' I've had in a while besides corn or potatoes.
I have a Coke Zero every day at lunch and it is glorious!
I love crazy hot showers and am always red and splotchy when I get out - perfect for applying gobs of Palmer's lotion which everyone says does nothing for stretch marks but hey it can't hurt!
I weigh myself every morning, which some say is nuts and just to let them do it at appointments. I don't want that kind of surprise!
I'm sure there are more - LOVE this post though. This feels great!
Alex has arrived! 9 pounds, 21 inches - 3 weeks early on March 2nd
~went natural - very intense. whew!~
I eat deli meats, candy, ice cream, and I love chocolate milk.
I lift heavy things. (My co-worker actually asks me every morning if there is anything I need because he doesnt want me doing anything strenuous. BTW, he's known me since I was a baby, so I just ask him to keep me out of the hospital, LOL)
OH! I drink diet coke/coke zero almost everyday. I cant help it.

I don't do caffeine but that's because I gave it up before I started IVF.
I do:
Take hot showers and not as hot as I'd like (unless my husband isn't paying attention) baths (My RE said it was fine ... it's all about core body temp)
Have eaten more hot dogs pregnant than I ever do not pregnant
Cheese? Yes, please (I don't pay attention to what kind of cheese it is, I live in Southern California, I assume 99.99% of cheese is pasteurized in my world)
Too much salt (although I'm cutting back) and candy
Exercise? What's that?
Carry things that are too heavy (namely my 35lb niece)
Think I can still do pretty much whatever I did before I got pregnant (lug boxes to the basement? Sure, no prob!)
I almost always sleep on my stomach but I think Bren is starting to not like it
Eat deli meat, although it is usually warmed
I don't lose any sleep over any of these things

I take really hot showers, really, really hot.

2) I lived off of italian subs for the first 2 months until my doctor explicitly stated no italian subs (doh.. how did she know to say that? )
3) I take half a no-doz in the am sometimes ( I hate coffee and I need to poop sometimes!)
