Ladies I need some help. I need to make the move to maternity pants. Only have one pair of jeans that fit and they are starting to get a bit snug in the belly. As my SIL says "this happens when you're pregnant". Gotta love her. Anyway, went to Fashion Bug today, where I shop sometimes for clothes. NOTHING!! Was going to just go up a size or so until could find some jeans, but need tall jeans and they didn't have any tall jeans. So went to Boscov's and they didn't have plus size maternity clothes. So as I ramble, does anyone know where is a good place to buy maternity clothes for plus size without breaking the bank? TIA!!!
Re: Plus size maternity clothes
My Blog on PPD and life in general**
Old Navy is great, there's just a few caveats: 1) most, if not all, of their selection is online or in very few stores, 2) returns are by mail only and 3) their maternity jeans are a tad long, so be prepared to get them hemmed.
However, ON and Gap have cute stuff at decent prices, especially when there's a sale (and there's always a sale), so you can pick up some good stuff that will last a while and look cute without being too trendy or funky. Their jeans are super comfy, I just need to get my hemmed about 1/2 inch.
Don't go to Pea in the Pod, they only go up to size L, most of their shirts have horizontal stripes (really?) and nothing would even fit over my boobs. Oh, and everything was like $50+. Silly. Also, another vote for Motherhood, from what I've read.
It definitely depends on what size you are. I actually normally wear maternity tops because my stupid large stomach, so I've had fun trying on all brands. If you are are larger than a 20, Motherhood and JCP are the only places I know of; if you are smaller, there is a lot more selection, particularly in trying to get tall jeans.
Old Navy technically only goes to an 18 in store, but they run quite big. They do have some limited items in store, usually enough to get an idea of sizing but you mostly need to order online, especially for the longer pants.
Gap runs fairly true to size for 16/18, in my opinion and they come in longs. Only big stores carry Gap Maternity in store however, so you mostly need to order online [and I would call ahead to see what sizes they carry, it can vary a bit by what they have in stock that day.] They are much more expensive.
Target Maternity also runs a tiny bit big, so if you are on the smaller size you might fit in their XL or XXL, although items vary a lot. I don't think they carry lengths however.
Last time I was pregnant I got a few things (pants and shirts) from Target, but most of my stuff came from Burlington Coat Factory (super cheap too!). I got 10 tops and 10 bottoms there for about $100. Motherhood Maternity has some good stuff too, and I've heard some people have had some luck at Old Navy.
Also, Torrid has a few maternity things on sale right now on their website.
ETA: I should mention that I'm a size 17/18 in pants and a XL-2X on top (depending on the cut of the shirt), and I'm 5'8" tall, and those are the places that worked for me.
