Infertility

Anyone over 40 have AFC or AMH change significantly after a few months?

Just had my day 3 work up last month and am tentatively set for an ER in early Jan. I'm a bit stressed because I'm over 40 and though I had a good AFC and AMH level in Oct, I worry they could go down over 3 months, since my clock is loudly ticking. More self-inflicted stress, I know, but just wondering if anyone over 40 has had their levels change quite a bit in just a few months.

I'm not sure if they gradually decline as you age, or if at some point (typically over 40), you all of a sudden see a dramatic drop off.

  • I am 38 but my AMH dropped from 0.92 in January 2011 to 0.3 in October 2011.   That's longer than Oct to January of course.  Try not to worry about it as you can't do anything to change it.    What is your AMH at now?

  • I had gone from consistently getting 12-13 eggs at ER to 1, then 4-6 the month afterward. I have continued to have very good AFC and hormone levels. Sorry, you prob don't want to hear that. But you did ask. My advice is to not worry about others and stay focused on your own cycles.

  • I am not 40 (32) my AFC went from 16 in Jan to 5 in July. I have been between 5-7 since July. I didnt get my AMH until Sept which was 0.3. I am DOR, so that is the reason for the sudden drop. I hope your levels are still good in Jan. GL! We may be cycle buddies in Jan.

  • Yes, they can drastically change in a short amount of time.  Having said that, everyone is different and there is absolutely nothing you can do to change the situation.  So....(easier said than done) try not to stress and just get to cycle as soon as you can.  GL
  • I am not 40, I'm 31.  I had my AMH first tested when I was 29 d/t low AFC of 4.  My first AMH was 0.5 and only 8 or 9 months later it was somewhere around <0.2 (the exact numbers are in my siggy).

Since I have been seeing a RE my AFC has always been low I have never had more than 5 from my knowledge and it usually hangs our around that number.

I think levels decreasing is different for everyone, however i'm not positive.  GL with everything!
