2nd Trimester

Being sick during pregnancy sucks BIG TIME!

So within the past 48 hrs I've gotten sick.

Stuffy head, throat raw and swollen, stuffy nose, ears stopped up and to make it worse. I'm dehydrated. It seems no matter how much water I drink I end up losing it all one way or the other. Of course, to make it worse I couldn't sleep as well either. The baby kept kicking me too. lol It's great to finally be able to feel him move a little more intensely. As bad as I hate to say it, it started to get a bit aggrivating because I was already having issues sleeping.

Any way to deal with it until I can get to the doctor?

Thank you for listening ladies, I just needed to vent a little bit.

  • I was sick a week ago and nothing really helped besides hot tea and tylenol.  No other meds can be taken.  I'm sorry you are feeling so sick, it really does suck being pregnant and sick cus nothing makes it better but time.

  • I was sick all last week and it sucked big time. I agree re lots of tea and a little tylenol. I also drank lots of oj and made smoothies with orange juice, yogurt, and frozen pineapple and mango which were really soothing to my throat. I had popsicles and hard candies also.

  • I've been sick for almost 2-weeks now.  I'm finally starting to get a little bit better.  I did go to my PCP, but all they told me is it's a regular cold & to take whatever's on my OB's "safe list".  Do you have a list of safe meds from your OB?  I took a couple of the meds on my list, but they didn't really help.  Honestly, the only thing that has helped me at all is Tylenol, using a Neti Pot, a humidifier & drinking as much fluids as I can get down.  I also slept in a recliner for 4 nights because I was so stuffed up sleeping in bed at first that I couldn't breathe (or sleep).

  • UGH I have almost the same symptoms and it's AWFUL. Plus I'm sooo tired and sitting at work is NOT fun. I've been drinking lots of orange juice, taking my vitamins and eating chicken noodle soup... so far nothing has really helped though. Feel better!

  • I found out that I have a sever sinus infection. They gave me antibiotics (which are horse pills literally) and told me to use lots of vicks and drink lots of fluids. I was so ready for them to stab an iv in my arm and give me a couple hundred ml of fluids and something that would at least make me sleepy since i hadnt had almost any sleep the previous night..........alas, no luck
