Still "sucking it in"?

So I came out to everyone last week.  Our 2nd appt went well, we heard the heartbeat and set a date for our anatomy scan.

Still, I'm having trouble just letting it all "out".  This is my second, so I have a bump but I still look fat, not pregnant.  I've having a hard time just letting my belly go.  I still feel like I have to suck it in and/or hide it.  Maybe it's because I'm still trying to fit into my regular pants and just leave them unbuttoned or maybe it's because I don't want to just look fat.  I don't really know what it is.  I thought popping early would be fun, but instead I'm finding it more frustrating.

Anyone else or am I the only one?

Re: Still "sucking it in"?

  • Yup. I had belly fat, so I know I'm gonna look like I have twins. I hate the way I look because my belly is out way farther than it should, but I've given up. If I try to suck it in, it just makes me uncomfortable.

  • I have also stopped trying.  I am early but I am pretty sure I have a small bump and it is noticeable.  Since I came out to everyone at work I have stopped trying to hide it and have embraced it!  I am only up 2.5lbs so I am just going to go with the flow.

  • Yeah I am definitely still sucking it in - I still just look like I have a bit of an extra belly roll or something, no bump yet, and I have been sucking it in for the past few weeks haha but I may just let myself go this week, now that everyone at work knows.

  • I'm very petite with a short torso so by the end of the day my bloat is definitely noticible...enough that DH can now see it.  I'm still trying to hide it since I haven't come out at work yet.  I'm definitely having to be selective with the shirts I pick since some show it off much more.  I've worked at my job long enough that coworkers would not think "extra food".

BIG ditto - should have laid off the chocolate during the first tri...  been wearing vests and zip ups to hide... hopefully i keep at the working out and start to eat better i can hopefully lose a bit of this so i can proudly show off the bump when it becomes the real deal!

  • A few weeks ago a was still doing it, mostly out of habit. But I have up. I am 14 weeks and I really feel like I look pregnant. There's definetly a bump! My neighbor noticed at 12 weeks, and we barely talk. I am loving it, I don't have to suck it in! I am pregnant and having a belly is ok, all right!

  • I could literally care less what my belly looks like or if I look fat.

This for me too. I told my boss last week and my NT scan is next week (Thursday) and I had wanted to wait until then to tell the rest of my team, but I think I'll have to tell before then.  It's definitely getting noticeable!!

I am very petite too and by the end of the day, my bloat does look noticeable. It has been hard to find tops to wear to work. Thankfully I am able to wear sweaters and hoodies since its cold outside. Tomorrow is my first u/s if all goes well then I will be  announcing it on FB. I still think it will be weird all of a sudden not hide it anymore. I think with time and a growing bump it will get better and I will feel less self conscious.

  • I was trying desperately to hide my belly until I came out to everyone at work.  Now everyone tells me that it looks like I "popped" overnight.  Really what happened is that I stopped hiding under flowy shirts and oversized sweaters.  Now that everyone knows, I am rather proud of my little bump and love buying the little fitted maternity shirts with the rouched sides.

    Wear your belly proud!

  • I'm "coming out" next week, and I already had a belly before getting KU so it's def not a bump still!  I carried all my weight around the middle (yay for me), so I won't actually show until later....so I don't want to call attention around my flab like it's the baby!
  • Spanx, maternity jeans and a belly band, in that order. That's what I've been rocking along with my spare tire and baby bump. I rock it when I'm out (usually sans spanx) and less at work (since I'm telling them on Wednesday). :)

  • Kind of...I work at a doctors office and all my co-workers know that I'm pregnant but I don't want the patients to know yet. I work with mental health patients and some times they can ask too many questions so I rather not have them know so I have been sucking in around them. I just started to wear maternity pants this week and wearing loose tops but sooner than later they will notice.

  • Yep. I'm only 10 weeks, but my husband told me yesterday "I think today is the last day you should wear that shirt." I was wearing a form-fitting turtleneck and apparently I'm looking a little thicker than normal. We're not telling work until after thanksgiving so hopefully no one notices that I'm wearing all flowy tops for the next three weeks!

  • You aren't alone...I look in the mirror and I'm like AHHhHhHh! My stomach has always been flat and it's just strange to see it not so anymore. I can't suck it in anymore it's too hard of a mound :/
