Hello sweet bumpies! i am posting today because i would like to get some suggestions from those of you who are more experienced in the TCC at an advanced maternal age.
my hubby and i wont be tcc till may because we have a honeymoon, big move, and some finances to get in order. we are moving in february and will be looking for jobs when we get to the new city. we will try to look beforehand but it may take some time. this means we may not have health insurance for a bit.
the plan is to start ttc no matter where we are in May but sooner if we get jobs quicker than that. since i am not sure if i will have insurance and i hate waiting to tcc to find out if i have any fertility issues, i am gonna go in and get as many pre-emptive tests as i can.
here's where i need your help: which tests do you suggest i get? i will be getting my FSH and AMH blood test, i'd like to get an ultrasound and search for fibroids since they run in my family (my sis has them but she is very obese as well). What else can i check for now besides hubby's sperm? and what are the tests called?
Hubs and i would really like 2 children if possible. we are healthy but i did smoke for about 5 years. i also contracted chlymidia several years ago but it was treated and nothing has ever posed an issue since. i went off bc in july and have been charting ever since. it does seem that i am ovulating but id love to make sure. i really want to check anything i can now so that we will have a better idea of our challenges. if my blood test come back with low ovarian reserve we will probably start in February or sooner.
thank you so so much for any advice you give and i want to wish baby dust to all of you!!!!
Re: Not TCC till May but going in for tests early, any suggestions
IVF #1 ET 1 d3 embryo 10/30/11 BFP
3 Embryos frozen (1 d5, 2 d6)

FET #1 ET 1 d5 embryo 02/10/15 BFN
FET #2 1 d6 embryo didn't survive thaw, transferred last d6. CP
I would like to add that the smoking is probably not that big of deal, especially since it was only for a few years (and hopefully you weren't like a 3 pack a day smoker). The chlamydia, on the other hand, could have affected your tubes if it was not treated quickly enough, so I would definitely want an HSG to check on that if I were you.

You got great advice. I'd second the suggestion for an HSG and definitely get your antral follicle count.
I definitely would TTC naturally for around 4 months even if you get some information that suggests you might have a problem - anything short of no sperm or 2 blocked tubes.
TTC 10/11. IUI 2/12. BFP 3/8/12. 4/26/12 missed mc. RE consult 5/17/12. IVF #1 ER 7/13/12 53R, 41M ICSIed, 32F, 8 5d, 6 6d blasts - all PGD/frozen. PGD results 1 normal M and 1 normal F, 1 maybe M.
