sorry if this has already been asked, but do you have to felt sweaters from a thrift store before turning them into longies? How would I do that? Any particular washing methods I should know about??

Just checked the FAQ's. That answered all of my questions except for the "felting"!

I washed mine in the washing machine and dried on hot. I did this twice.

you don't have to felt them, but it helps keep them from unraveling when you go to cut your pieces out.
