2nd Trimester

Swimming

I am at the stage in my pregnancy that I am not feeling huge. I have a small frame so this is very new to me. I am almost 23 weeks and my self esteem is lowering. I know its dumb because pregnancy is beautiful and  my body has to change for this little guy to be healthy and develop properly. I have been walking daily, but I want to start swimming. Is there anything I need to be careful with? I feel like it would be a great workout during pregnancy for the whole body. Let me know what you think!

Re: Swimming

  • Swimming is one of the recommended forms of exercise when pregnant. The only thing I was ever told was to be careful swimming in say the ocean if there are choppy waves that could not knock you down. Otherwise it's perfectly safe.

  • I love swimming!  It feels so good to float in the water, and it actually helps with my backache.  The only thing is that I drink a lot of water to hydrate myself, and I have to get out of the pool to go to the bathroom a couple of times:D

  • I would say swimming is one of the best exercise choices you can make while pregnant bc it is so gentle on your joints. Just make sure to clean up and dry off reall good afterwards. I read somewhere that swimming can contribute to uti's.
