Ever since I found out I was pregnant,
I have said I like the name Chase for a boy or girl.
We are having a little girl and I really like the name Chase
Elizabeth. I tell people (family included) that I like this name and I get this "are you serious" look? They act like I'm choosing such a male name for a girl. Any thoughts?
Re: Chase for a girl?
I love the name Charli for a girl (Charleigh, Charley, Charlee) My fathers middle name is Lee.
This came because he loves the name Charlotte but I am not sure and someone mentioned they would call her Charlie (but to me it is a complete seperate name).
But Chase for a girl - not a fan at all.
Ha. Yes, sometimes people post bad names as a joke.
Though in this case, I was just pointing out that I (like your family) have trouble taking Chase seriously for a girl. It's so bad, that I would hope you're joking for your daughter's sake (though I did know you were serious in this case...I was trying to be light-hearted).

I was going to ask you the same thing
Are you serious?
Boy name all the way and unless you are planning to dress her in pink every single day you will have to constantly tell people she is a girl
Just my thoughts as you asked.
Hmmmm...well are there any other names that you kind of like? The ladies on this board are very good at giving suggestions if they can get a general sense of your style. If you've got nothing so far, I suggest lurking around the board for awhile. A ton of great names come up every day that aren't super popular or outlandish.
Yes, people post joke names all the time just to get a rise out the board and go back to their home board to brag about it.
We also get a lot of people posting names they love looking for validation, and when they don't get that, they get defensive. This board is known for being brutally honest. If you ask for an opinion, they'll give it to you, no sugar coating, so be prepared.
Regarding your question....I do not like Chase for a girl. It's all boy in my opinion. If someone told me they were going to name their girl Chase, I would give them the "Are you serious?" look. What about Elizabeth Chase? Or maybe use Chase as a nn for something? Charlize maybe? I don't know.....
Not really fan of boys' names on girls as it usually result in some pretty horrible teasing when the girls get older.
Maybe you could name your daughter Chasity and call her Chase for short?

Hmmm sounds like you're kind of into the "revised classics"? How about Scarlett, Meredith, Juliet, Caroline, Marilyn, Georgia, Matilda, Rose, Penelope, Adeline?
chase is solely a boy name, in my opinion. that said, i don't like this name.
Thats a good idea. Do not name your daughter Chase. Its a boys name.

Big yuck.
Meh, I know a little girl named "Chase" and she gets mistaken for a boy ALL.THE. TIME. I'm even guilty, when the mom talked about her kids I ALWAYS thought she had two boys. Nope just a girl with a boys name. Oops. Poor kid I think she's going to have to deal with that her whole life.
My preference is to keep it a boys name.
Chase is definitely a more traditional male name, but I actually hate it. I think I might actually prefer it for a girl, but I still am not a fan of the name.

Your child is so frickin cute!!!!
Chase is a boys name.
Love Elizabeth.
I'm not crazy about Chase on a girl, its known in society as a male name, so I think this could be a problem for your daughter, with that said, many parents do this, I passed by a mom in Home Depot, calling her daugther Aiden the other day. Note, that I dont have a problem with unisex names, I actually like alot of them, but I have reservations about girls having names that are predominately used on males, popular names.
Just to get an idea of how many parents are naming their daughters Chase, I looked up the name for last year 2010 the numbers (a total of 140 girls were named Chase in 2010) are directly from the ssl and the site namenerds, which calculates/combines all the spellings and here is the stats:
Here is a link to that direct page: https://www.namenerds.com/uucn/pop/2010/2010xx03.html
Anybody else find this ironic?

I'm gonna go with no and add that I don't like Boy names for girls (including, Ryan, Devon). My name is Samantha and I grew up with people calling me "sam" it's tough being the girl with a boy's name.... just saying.
However, being new to theBump I don't feel that people need to be so rude with their responses. It's a turn off to the entire site.
