PC halloween costume?

I have a really cute Indian Halloween costume that I want my 3 year old daughter to wear. It was my costume when I was a kid but that was in the 80s when society wasn't so PC.  Do you think it would offend people if she wore it?

    First I need to know if you mean Indian as indigenous to India or Indian as in Native American.

    My DD is wearing an Indian-as-Native-American costume, and the pc-ness didn't even cross my mind.  I don't think it is a big deal.

    Personally, I would completely put her in it. It's Halloween.. people dress up, and people should have the right to choose what they want- IMO, that's part of the fun in the holiday.

    I might be the wrong one to ask, though. NOTHING offends me.
    I shake my head when my daughter shows me how she has to sit "criss-cross applesauce" in school.... instead of "Indian Style", which I grew up with.. I think is silly. It will always be Indian Style to me. I don't criss-cross my applesauce lol

    I bet she'll look cuuuuute.

    I think it is in poor taste.  Those kinds of costumes reduce an extremely broad, diverse community, comprised of hundreds of different tribes with different languages, different customs, culture, rituals, dress, into a stereotype (even if it is benign).  If we didn't have such a dreadful track record with the groups indigenous to N. America, it might not be so bad, but we treated them terribly for hundreds of years and now we can't even be bothered to educate ourselves about their culture.  I would pick something else.
