New Boy Name List

Please critique our new list for this little guy. MH only likes 'out there' names, so this has been quite the challenge. Thanks!

Auden (DH won't let me use Austin, so this is somewhat of a compromise)

Bodie (sounds like beau-dy)

Lachlan (nn Lake)

Lake

Rhys

ETA: Thanks for the honest opinions. Like I said, this is a challenge for us. Ugh.

Re: New Boy Name List

  • Rhys is the only name that I can get behind .  I've never heard of Auden or Bodie before and Lachlan is a last name, and I don't see Lake as a nn for it.

    How about River or Reid?

  • I really dislike all of them.
  • All of these are NMS.  Sorry.
  • The only one I like is Rhys.

  • ummmm, no.  sorry i don't like any of them.

Auden kinda sounds like Austin with a lisp

    Bodie reminds me of Booty

Lachlan- like a pp said is a ln

Lake just doesn't sound like a fn to me

Rhys- while i know some like it, just seems like it's missing some letters to me.  like it's unfinished.

  • I hate them all (except Rhys). Really, seriously, hate them. Especially Bodie, goodness gracious, I cannot stand that name. I just hate the sounds of them--and a lake is a body of water, not a name!

Rhys is quite cute, though. Go with that.

  • I'm in the minority.  Lachlan is also on our list, and it's actually a first name and is REALLY popular in Australia.  I wouldn't use Lake as a nn though, especially because of the loch/lake confusion.  My friend's son's name is Auden Jude, and I think it's really cool.  I also like Bodie.

    These are all horrible.

    Lake? Are you f'ing serious?

  • I like them all, Bodie the least.

  • I like Rhys.  Lachlan is okay with the nickname Locke but Lake sounds too feminine.

Auden also sounds feminine.  Bodie sounds juvenile; I cannot imagine it aging well.

  • Auden - I like it, but not for a boy.

Bodie - Not my favorite, but it's okay.

Lachlan - I really like this name. I think it's handsome, but I don't like the nickname Lake.

Lake - Don't like it at all.

Rhys - I really like this name.

My favorites are Lachlan & Rhys. Big Smile

  • I really like Lachlan and Rhys. I don't understand why you'd use the nickname "Lake" for Lachlan though considering the name isn't pronounced "lake-lan", it's "lock-lan".

Auden (DH won't let me use Austin, so this is somewhat of a compromise) I think I really like that name.  Its not Aidan which is a little over used  and Austin is a little dated

Bodie (sounds like beau-dy) LOVE.  It was on our boys list for a while.

    Lachlan (nn Lake) meh- NMS

Lake  I have never thought of this as a boys name

    Rhys

Auden - Sounds made up to me

Bodie - I think this is kind of cute

Lachlan (nn Lake) - I like this as well since I'm part Irish

    Lake - eh

Rhys - I prefer the spelling Reese, but a good name nonetheless.

  • Rhys is one of my favorite boy names ever, so that gets my vote. I like Lachlan, I actually know a very good looking Lachlan in his 30's. I am a fan of Lake, but I see it as only a girl name and it absolutely does not derive from Lachlan, it's trying too hard.

Bodie is so horrible I can't even put into words why. I honestly can only picture a stereotypical redneck dumb jock with this name. Yuck. Auden is pretty bad too, but not as a bad as Bodies...They both just sound really ugly, I'm sorry.

  • What about Alden? I dont think Auden flows off the tongue very well... Rhys is nice. I don't care for Bodie, which is too similar to (as previously mentioned) booty, or Brody, which is very common. I heard a name I REALLY liked the other day: Layton. I think it sounds nice and isn't TOO out there, but isnt too common

Auden (DH won't let me use Austin, so this is somewhat of a compromise) DOn't like but I do like Alden.

Bodie (sounds like beau-dy) I like, reminds me of the  olympic skier from the mountain where we have season passes.

Lachlan (nn Lake) Love and would use if we didn't have a last name that rhymed with it...not a fan of Lake at all.

  • I like Auden and Rhys.  Lachlan is fine but I feel like it's getting kind of popular.  What about Arlo??
  • I really only like Rhys. Auden looks made up to me, Bodie reminds me of body (like a dead body), Lachlan makes me think of a leprechaun, Lake NMS.

  • I love Rhys.  I also like Lachlan, but hate the nn Lake, I think the nn Lach (Lock) would be much better.  I like Auden, but I have heard it on girls lately.  Lake is a no.  I hate to say this but I feel like Bode is a dog's name.

    Kiren (long i)

    Caven (short a)

Kolden (like I have a cold)

    October

    Tennessee

These are totally not my style but might be yours.

  • I kinda like Auden! Rhys is ok. I like Lachlan too but the nn Lake doesnt make sense. What about calling him "Lock/Lach"? I dont like Bodie or Lake at all.

    What about Alton?

  • I like Rhys and Lachlan.

I'm not sure why people are slamming Lachlan, it's a traditional Irish name...
