NBR.. Is the car dealership insane

I took my car in for an oil change today and told them I think I needed new brakes since they were making noises. They just called and said yes I do need new brakes and it would cost $700 WTF needless to say DH will be changing my brakes on Monday :)

    LOL I HATE going to the dealerships for anything but I do take my car for the oil changes and services. Apparently that is all I will be taking it to them for, they are crazy if they think they are getting $700 out of me for brakes that probably cost them $100

    That is why they are called "stealerships" ... My car needed a thermostat replaced... they were going to charge me 350.00.  My BF changed it in literally 20 minutes and the part was like 20 bucks. 

    Thanks GOD for guys who know their way around cars!

    Wow what a ripoff....I NEVER go to the dealership but I decided I would take care of this car and do my regular services....so expensive! And they tried to tell me I needed new pads and roters only in the front...for $600! (Not to mention he was trying to act like he was giving me a deal)....my brakes are fine, no squeaking no problems and I have a friend that will take care of that for me (on every car I have owned) for cheap.  And it took them 3 week to fix an electrical problem (that I told them what it was when I dropped it off the first of 3x)......This post got me fired up again!! lol

    Car dealerships make more money on service & parts than they do on new and used car sales combined, heh. Trufax.
