This board is my favorite board but it's the slowest of the boards I read sometimes!
And I'm quite bored and in a good mood. Sorry if you get tired of seeing posts from me
I've taken quite a break from knitting since winter ended, but between winter and the baby I'm thinking about picking up my needles again soon. Any one else knit?
Just striking conversation I suppose. =]
Re: Any knitters out there?
I was trying to figure out how to post a pic of the blanket but I'm new to this and it's not working. The pic is in my profile though. I wanted to tell you guys too in case you didn't know about www.ravelry.com it's a free site where you can get thousands of free patterns and even the ones you have to pay for are affordable. I love it!
I don't have any projects right now but I'm going through ravelry to try and find something. I want something fairly easy and portable. I'm not an expert by any means by I taught myself July 2010 or so and I fell in loooove. Maybe a hat or scarf. Something to celebrate the cold finally coming in!
Or maybe I'll finally knit a pair of socks! I knit a baby one at some point from a tutorial but I still haven't conquered my irrational fear of socks xD
I'm on it right now! =D
I'd love a weekly knitters check in! Post what we're making, who it's for, and a picture? Maybe each week a knitting-maniac question. Or just what you like about what you're knitting? the yarn? Hehe I'll even be in charge of it if yall want
-yay included feeling- Everyone calls me granny for knitting. haha
so excited! how do you post pics of projects though, I can't figure it out. I'm a dummy when it comes to this stuff.
And I get called a Grandma too!!
Make a pregnancy ticker
Yay I figured it out =] I'm thinking about making this blanket. I just clicked on the little tree icon while in reply to message and inserted the image url then changed the dimensions so it wasn't so big.
Yarn+needles=Crafts. Crochet has all elements so of course it's included! I probably would have forgotten to include the word crochet but wouldn't have been surprised to see anyone posting crochet projects
I taught myself through online videos last year. It really isn't very difficult. It was interesting learning how the needles fit in my hand and getting my hands used to making the movements, but that was it. Just like learning how to use your non dominant hand to write or eat. It feels awkward, but if you did it enough you'd learn how to do it with ease.
If you already have kiddos I can see it being a little harder to take time to learn, but if you don't and you start now you could be a pro by the time baby comes!
For the ones who have issues with PIPing, theres a board called New to the Bump and it has a FAQ at the top that has all sorts of useful info. I use it al lthe time.
Yay! Im excited for this!
What day do we want to do it?
Should I just make a poll and ask?
I knit! It's definitely my winter activity of choice. I'm definitely no expert, but I've made a number of baby cardigans for friends' showers, mittens, hats. I'd love to knit a baby blanket, but I find I get bored with the big projects... I think that's why I like knitting baby sweaters and not adult sweaters!
I'm totally in for a weekly knitting/crocheting check-in! Great idea!
What day should we do the knitting/crochet check-in? I was thinking Sunday bc it's the last day of the weekend and that's when I get most of my knitting done.
ok hopefully this works...
That looks great! The only cables I've done were for a hat.
Love to knit but stopped for a bit after getting frustrated with one particular project. Anyone else try a lace knitting project? I've been having a heck of a time if I mess up because the only way I see to fix it is to rip it out and start over. I am looking forward to starting some baby items soon though and perhaps coming back to the lacing.
Ughh. I want to do lace SO badly. I've done one thing but it wasn't very lacy. I was VERY proud of it. Went to do another one with some even lighter weight yarn and something more lacy and it was a complete disaster. I gave up and have no idea what to do with that yarn now haha
I'm going back to fingering weight for my lightest.
I did this as my 3rd knitting project, it was for a wedding. It just took a lot of time and patience. My husband got tired of the counting every night "...543,544,545..." But right now he is deployed and I get to knit a lot more
That is so beautiful! I'll have to find a picture of the thing I did closest to lace.
This is all pretty motivating to get going again.
That is beautiful. And thanks ladies I'm glad to know it isn't just me getting frustrated. The project said medium on the hard scale and I was starting to think the yarn was smarter than me lol.
I tried knitting once and I'm HORRIBLE at it! I could get the first couple rows down, but after that it always got all messed up. I may try again someday, but for now I'll setting for sewing and crocheting. Here's some things I've made.
Thanks,
I really loved making that one, I started another but haven't finished it. I really need to get moving on the blanket I started. I think this is going to be so much fun!
