Recommend your P&S camera

So our Point & Shoot died last weekend.  I need to get one before Halloween, so please recommend your P&S.

We have a Nikon D50 SLR, but want something for quick trips, etc.

Thanks!

  • We have the Casio Exilim and like it, but other friends rave about the Canon Powershot.

  • The flash in our Canon Powershot burned out recently and it's less than a year old. We're getting it repaired under warranty (well, we will if we can ever find the receipt), but I'm irritated about it. And to be honest, the picture quality was never as good as I'd hoped it would be.

ETA - I think we got a lemon! All the reviews of Canon products are so positive, and I'm sure our experience was unusual. I will be a little wary of getting another one, though.

  • I have a Canon Power Shot ELPH and have really loved it. Mine is about 2 years old now and it's been great. It takes good pictures and it's really easy to use--I especially love the continuous shutter feature which is help when taking pictures of Warner since he is pretty squirmy :-)
  • We have the Canon Power Shot ELPH as well which we got for our wedding in 2007. It's very compact and takes great photos. I've never had any issues with it.

Ohh, glad to hear that. I've heard the rave reviews over the high end Powershots but didn't want to invest as much money in a P&S as I have in my DSLR body. I'm going to put an Elph on my wishlist. Right behind the 7D. And 100mm L.

ETA- We had a Sony Cybershot until recently. It was fine. Didn't handle low light (without flash) well at all, but that's probably true of most P&Ss.
