Just interested to see if anyone has gotten any funny/bad/silly comments so far about your belly.
I have only gotten a couple. First one was when I told my co-workers I was pregnant - I told them early on b/c morning sickness was bad and I was throwing up several times a day (you gotta love the public bathroom stalls at work!). One co-worker said "Oh, I was wondering because I thought you gained some weight on your stomach" - I was 7 weeks pregnant at the time - thanks a lot!!!
Other one was my DH a couple of weeks ago. I have a bit of a bump now and I asked him if I looked pregnant yet. To that, he answers "Nah, it just looks like you had a big lunch" - that made me laugh b/c I guess he is right - I am not obviously pregnant looking yet and it could be mistaken for a big meal...
Re: Worst comments so far in your pregnancy?
Worst ones:
FIL- "You sure are getting fat aren't you?" (Cue crazy b!tch making her big debut)
DH- "It's so weird to see you with a belly. Since we were 14 you've always been 88lb and in shape. It's going to take some getting used to." OUCH.
Mom- "Those pants make GREAT fat pants! You are getting so HUGE so fast!"
Whatever. I'm still lovin' it.
Someone told me they thought I was, "Just bulking up for a race"--who bulks up for a half marathon?
Also, someone told me they thought I was having a girl b/c I was getting big "all over".
I've gained 6 lbs total.
I haven't gotten too many...
MIL (after telling her we were pregnant)-"Congrats...did you tell Nicole? (SIL) What did SHE say about it?" My SIL is due in december and it took her 2 years to get pregnant...so MIL was basically saying we are stepping on toes and shouldn't be stealing her thunder...I was livid!
Hubby (God bless him!)- "Babe you're gonna be BIIIIGGGG!!!!"...i'm 14 weeks today and my stomach is definitely sticking out plus i'm only 5'2 and i've already gained about 10-12 pounds. Needless to say..i'm probably going to be BIIIIGGGG....lol.
DH - "I dont understand why you're being so dramatic, you are only a little bit pregnant" WTF IS A LITTLE BIT?!?! You either are or you aren't!
Aunt after I told her I was pregnant - "You are going to BLOW UP!"
WTF!, thanks!
My neice who is 13 and in response to me smelling something and calling it pregnancy nose.. "Are you going to blame everything on the pregnancy"
Why yes, yes I am.. cause IM PREGNANT.. just wait till you get knocked up kid, you'll understand then..
My MIL saw me for the first time since I started showing and said "Holy Toledo!" Gee thanks.
Then the next day my aunt, saw me for the first time since I got preg and said "OH... MY.... GOD". I'm only 5'2 and had gained 5 lbs maybe by that point. I had thought that at 15 weeks and preg with twins, that 5 lbs is pretty good.
I'm late to the party, but I'll go ahead and post:
I'm 13 weeks, and am starting to get a little belly--really I just look bloated. Most of my co-workers have been really nice about it and keep saying that I'm going to be so cute pregnant and have a "basketball belly" since I'm tall and fairly thin. One of the men that I work with however, had an interesting comment when I told the office I was pregnant. I was only about 8 1/2 weeks at the time and had to tell because I had been getting sick and coming in late. Anyway, when I told him he goes, "I thought you might be pregnant a few weeks ago at our last event" (I'm an event planner) and I was like, "Why in the world did you think that?"....I hadn't gotten sick until recently and I definitely wasn't showing at all then. He goes, "Well, you looked really tired...and there were just a few other signs" (and looked straight at by belly). Um...thanks.
Then last night, I went out to dinner with a couple of friends and told them. When we stood up from the table, one of them was like "You don't look pregnant at all", and the other goes "Yeah, it just looks like you had a big lunch". Which is totally true, but still, you're not supposed to actually SAY that to someone who's hormonal.
That's all I've got. I guess they aren't that bad now that I've written them out!
