Bernadette for a little girl? I'm not pregnant or ttc, but it's always fun to think of baby names, and I've recently become obsessed with this name.

Also, what middle names would go well with it?

I know a lady named Bernadette...she goes by Bernie. I don't like the nickname Bernie on a little girl.

I also have a friend named Bernia...not Bernadette... but I like Bernia better for a little girl than Bernie.

Oh, I really do like Bernadette Elise, actually.

And as for NN, my family tends to lengthen names when they do nicknames, instead of shortening. lol We're hicks, so we tend to call each other by our first and middle names. Like I mentioned in the Greogy NN post earlier, my cousin Greogy has always been Gregory, and was usually Gregory Joe. So I don't feel like in our family at least, she'd get shortened to Bernie or anything.

But I realize, I could be wrong. But I would be ok with Bea or Etta. Etta is kinda cute really.

I just picture this adorable little thing with curly pigtails, overalls, giant purple glasses, running around with the name Bernadette. lol

Bernadette is NMS, but I don't dislike it.

My best friend is a Georgette with the nn of Getty (pronounced like jetty), so my first thought for Bernadette was Betty.

In the movie "Circle of Friends". Minnie Driver's character's name is Bernadette with the nn Bennie.

I automatically think of Bernadette Peters, and that's a lot to live up to in my book.

There is also the character of Bernadette on "The Big Bang Theory" and it totally suits her I think.

It's so funny that you posted this. Bernadette Peters is actually what I always think of too. lol Ever since I was a kid I've been IN LOVE with her name, but I never thought of it as a "real person's" name until Bernadette on BBT. lmao She is just such a cutie, it made me realize that it didn't have to be a name for a larger than life "character" or something. If that makes sense.

I didnt like it as a kid but that is because it was "weird"... I always wished I was Sarah or Amy or something simple. I definitely appreciate it more as an adult.

My Nannys growing up were Bernadette and Anna and my sister and I used to call them Bernadette Anna and Anna Bernadette just to be funny and somehow it does work

I loved them so much specially Bernadette she was the nicest sweetest lady ever.
