I posted in the Rh- thread below, but I am reposting because my curiosity has gotten the better of me.... When I get RhoGam (I have already done it with this pregnancy b/c of bleeding and will have it two more times, I go to the lab and they take my blood to "make" the shot. I have to sit around for an hour until it is ready and then go get the shot.
Is it not like this for everyoen else? Or maybe I am mistaken about what is going on?
Re: RhoGam
Not like that for me... nurse comes in and gives me a shot just like the flu vax.
Beta #1: 268 (16dpo) ~ Progesterone 54 ~ Beta #2: 541 (18dpo)
Its like that for me- THey have to take blood- then it takes an hour to I forget either mix or come back with a certain result then I get the shot in my butt/hip area...
I hate having to wait around!
The reason for the Rhogam shot is based on your blood type. I am A- which means that if the baby happens to be + it could cause issues with how our blood works together. So with my 1st pregnancy i got a shot in the end of 2nd trimester and one right after he was born. It will be the same for this pregnancy.
I would def ask your doctor to give you a better understanding of the procedure you are going through. Best of luck!
That's fascinating, and makes sense.
...
I haven't had my first RhoGam shot; assuming all continues to go well, I won't have one until my 28wk appointment.

Pregnant after 4 losses via IVF/FET with daughter "Gamma" (EDD Oct 2, 2019)
I also have to get the RhoGam at 26-28 weeks
My understanding is that they only have to do the extra step of testing the blood each time if you have had some bleeding. They are checking to make sure you haven't made any anti-bodies.
