gymboree class question

hi ladies,

I figured I'd check out the local gymboree place and signed A up for a free "Play & Learn" class. So is only one parent allowed to particpate with the child or can both DH and I go? I think DH will be disappointed if he can't tag along. I poked around on the website a little but didn't see anything about that.

oh, and I'd love to hear about your experiences if you've gone to gymboree!

TIA!

Re: gymboree class question

  • There was only 1 parent per child in my class, but the instructor was lax about rules and let older kids come in during school vacations, so I am sure if a second parent had the day off and wanted to come in, she wouldn't have cared. I think each gymboree has their own policies, call and ask.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • DH came with us all the time! My parents would even come from time to time. Paige loved it, as did I. I will be signing my twins up this winter. It's really fun!

Oh I totally understand! Jack gets tense and upset in situations involving more than a few people, and it dawned on me that I have never let him get used to it! They spend so much time at home. I want him to start MDO in June, so I figure I have all winter to get him out and comfortable. I know your little miss will have fun and you will too! Bring your camera!! : )

Abbie is the same way. If too many people crowd her and stare at her and talk loud in her face, she gets upset. Well, I guess that would get anyone upset! lol. She definitely seems to be on the shy side, but is really interested in other babies at church, so I think she'll enjoy it.

  • We did Saturday classes and DH and I both went most times until I was on bedrest. We went when Toodle was older (started around 16 months) and he wasn't crazy about it. He just wanted to do his own thing, not the activities they dictated, and when he got more verbal he would scream "No Gymbo!" and try to prevent us from strapping him into the carseat when it was time to go. Needless to say, we took him out shortly thereafter, haha.

  • Hey! Yes DH's are there all of the time! Hope you like it!!

  • On Saturdays DH and I would both go - and we weren't the only couples there.  It may vary from place to place - but I say just go ahead and don't worry about it unless someone says "um ... only ONE of you can come."
    Wheee!

  • We love Gymboree, my husband and I go together sometimes.  There are a lot of parents, grandparents, and nanny/mom combos that attend at the locations we go to. We do both the music and the play and learn.  I am not sure if every location has it, but open play is fun too.  No class, you can just let the kids run around and interact.  It has saved my sanity and I met a wonderful group of friends as well!
Years of trying and treatment, IVF#1 brought us our darling C!
