I have a confession...

I haven't been taking my PNV's every day. I have had HUGE aversions to them and I can't get them down... a lot of times they are the only thing that make me throw up anymore. I get them down usually every other day, but even thinking about them makes me gag. This is the 3rd one I've tried and my OB says he cannot change it again because this one has been the only one that has evened out the vitamins that I've been deficient in. I have been eating a salad every day and yogurt and healthy foods, but I still feel awful! I also am having a hard time gaining weight, so I feel like I'm doing something terribly wrong.

Anybody else having this same issue? At this point I'm worried my baby is going to have 3 heads (well, maybe 4 since I've used the microwave a lot lately... Stick out tongue)

Re: I have a confession...

  • Mine were making me super nauseous for some reason and my doc recommended breaking them in half and taking one part in the morning and one at night. Worked for me =]

  • I took them at the beginning then I started throwing up within an hour everytime I took it so I stopped.  I now take 2 Flintstone's.  It might not be the best, but I compared it to the prenatal and it seems pretty close.  They haven't made me sick once.
  • Me! I'm just so forgetful about them now that I'm out of 1st tri, which I know sounds awful. When I do remember to take them sometimes they won't go or stay down. I should do that now actually.

  • Buy some Flintstones and take 2 a day.

My personal preference are the gummies.

  • Mine always made me nauseous, so I switched to the gummies and upped my iron intake.  I also take a B-complex gummy to help my fatigue.

  • mine make me queasy unless i take them right before bed with a snack.

i'm pretty good about taking the vitamin, but i keep neglecting the additional DHA. taking one pill is hard enough sometimes, and i just don't feel like swallowing another!

  • I don't take anything.  I tried and they all came back up (including gummies).  I eat fairly healthy on any average day and I don't feel bad.

  • I have this problem and so far coating them in honey and washing them down with a sweet beverage is the only thing that helps.

  • I have probably missed a week total. But my vitamins do not have DHA in them and I never got a supplement. Maybe when I run out I will get one with DHA.

    This....

I started out taking the gummies and I had deficiencies everywhere, so I tried one prescription one that made me horribly sick and now I'm on a chewable that tastes gross but I'm back in the "safe zones" for my iron levels and other deficiencies. I'll give the Flinstones a try and see if they do the trick. Thanks.

  • My doctor recomender 2 Flinstones a day.  Said most women can handle them and 2 has the sames as the PNVs.  He also said to try them a little earlier.

  • The ones I take now are actually the best ones I've ever taken. Easy to get down and no nausea, the issue is I'm HORRIBLE with remembering to take them, lol.

  • They are gross and I think if I think about them more I gag and throw them up! I try to shove them down my throat really quickly with lots of water! The best one I found was Women's One a Day. Those are the ones that make me least nauseous! They also have gummy ones at Target that are actually good. If you can't take any I think those are better than nothing! They don't have iron though.

  • I forget them--it's not an intentional thing, it's that I'm brain dead and sleep deprived... :)

  • why not do the gummy vitamins that are OTC? or even 2 flintstones would do the trick. (though you'd have to check the folic acid in them, i'm not positive about that)

  • I forget to take them...my kids remind me!  I bought 60 days worth and I have 19 pills left, I bought these when I was 5 weeks along.  I didn't take them when I had morning sickness that started at 6 weeks because it made my tummy hurt more, and my m/s stopped at 13/14 weeks.  So I should be on my second bottle by now......
