I've been getting these itchy bumps for about 2 months now. First I would get them on my legs then my arms. Now I have them on my belly and back and one on my forehead. They are not all over. Just one bump will appear. Then maybe another one the next day and another one the next day. They feel just like mosquito bites but are smaller and they are SO itchy I cannot help itching them.
I told my doctor last time and she said she doesnt know what it could be but hormones cause all kinds of changes in skin so just use corizone cream and take antihistimines for relief and hopefully after baby comes it will stop.
Has anyone else had this symptom? I get tired of the word PUPPS everytime I google I doubt I have that since it is supposedly a rare condition in 1% of preggos and I have no area that is covered in bumps. These are small isolated bumps. And no I have checked for bugs the thought did cross my mind but it is not bed bugs or mosquitoes.
Re: phantom bug bites :-(
Ohh please come back and let me know what she says!
I'm certain, I have scoured the bed...couch and anything else that could possibly contain them or any other kind of biter and there is no evidence.
ok gnomeluv i will let u know if i hear anything
I know you're tired of PUPPS but it sounds like it could be it, esp since it has many varying forms. Your OB might be able to prescribe a cream for some relief. And in regards to it being "rare", that may be true but I know 3 people in real life who experienced it during pregnancy so it's not entirely uncommon. They all had different degrees of it.
my doctor took a look today and her "official" "unofficial" answer was that my skin is stretching so maybe my capilaries are coming to the top and bursting which would cause redness or a small bump - she said thats why they seem to have a dot of blood on top (I thought... no the blood is because I scratched them off oops)
and she said it's something kind of like a "hemangioma" possibly. (totally different thing than the first thing she said) and that they will go away. and ew I looked up hemangioma and that is totally not what I have. Those are birth marks and they do not go away. So basically she's not a dermatologist. But I hope that the fact that she did not gasp or require a biopsy means that it's nothing serious like staph or invisible spiders biting me. She said just keep using the cortizone cream and when I am done being pregnant she is sure it will go away.
Anyway thanks to other PP's.... it sounds like a couple of you have the same symptom maybe it is a form of hives or hormones making me allergic to some unknown allergan. Anyway I wish you others luck too and hope you find some relief from the itching. It makes it hard for me to concentrate because of all the random itchiness.... sigh.
For PP who is team green and mentioned the "male" factor.... maybe that means your having a boy :-)
