Kindle (NBR)

Anyone an expert on the Kindle? I was thinking about getting DH one for Christmas, I see Amazon is releasing a new one in November, color and wireless web, looks pretty good.

I'm just wondering if they'll run a cyber Monday sale, if we think it'll be good or if there is a better option out there.  Thoughts?

    i have the barnes & noble nook, an older one and i was wondering if the kindle, particularly the new one, is good? does look nice! maybe someone on here will know.. i think its coming out at $200 right? and the equivalent with the Nook is $250, so thats good i guess..

    I really like my kindle. I have the most basic one. It's black and white and doesn't have any of the bells & whistles that the Nook has (or newer versions of the kindle), but that's what I wanted- a basic e-reader. It's great!

    That's what I have too, I wanted something that was more like reading an actual book and that wouldn't limit my reading time in any way, like other devices.  The E-ink screen is great in bright sunlight and your eyes don't get tired.  It's also extremely light so I can hold it in one hand like a paperback and my hand never gets tired.  I would really recommend getting one with an e-ink screen and check how much it weighs before you buy.  Our iPad is great but I can't imagine using it as a reader, it just wouldn't work.

    Same here!  I wanted a basic reader...otherwise, I would have just spent the money to get an iPad, but I already own every other Apple product there is, and didn't need one.

     Same here ... love it! Although the new color ones do look amazing and make me just a tad bit jealous ... lol

    I have a nook and I adore it. I love that I can walk into any store and have them look at it if I have any problems (had quite a few at the beginning because I'm a noob). I wouldn't own anything else really- my loyalty is definitely to Barnes & Noble =]

    I have the 3G WiFi one with the e-ink tech. (I look at a computer screen for my job all day long and the last thing I need is something back-lit when I'm reading at home, which is why I didn't get a Nook color.) I absolutely LOVE it. It's easy to read and super easy on the eyes. And it's so nice to be at the gym and finish up a book and be able to buy a new one right then. :)

    I love my kindle. That said, I would definitely get him the new kindle fire when it comes out. It is color and touch screen (see, I'm jealous because mine is the regular one with buttons and black and white Stick out tongue)
