XP: Stitch for DIY flannel wipes?

Hi all.  I got an abundance of 100% cotton flannel receieving blankets (in some hideous prints), so I was going to cut them up into wipes.  I have some basic hand sewing skills, and a very basic sewing machine (no special foot attachments). What stitch would you recommend on the seems to keep it from unraveling?TIA!

  • you could do it two ways -

turn and topstitch or zigzag.  if you just do a zigzag you'll have some fraying the first couple washes, but that's the easiest way to make them! good luck!

  • I did some cut into squares with pinking shears, then topstitch (straight stitch) around.

I did some other ones right sides together, straight stitch (like a pillow) then turn right side out. You can top stitch again, or make an X if you want it to look more finished.

  • I use a zig-zag.

  • zig zag for sure. but if you are still unsure if they are done, go over them another time in a straight line or even another zig zag.
