Just for fun and because I am already bored at work.... ( I don't necessarily plan on using any of these, they have just caught my eye recently as interesting) What do you guys think of the following names?
Colette
Lenore
Seraphina
Persephone
Greer
Wren
Aveline
Arden
Liv
Lavender
Alistair
Orion
Evander
Re: Thoughts on some interesting names
I actually like Lenore, and I don't dislike Colette, Seraphina or Greer.
And is Aveline supposed to be an English spelling of Eibhlin? Because I like Eibhlin.
I love Colette and Wren!!
Greer, Lavender, Orion and Evander are bad, IMO.
The rest are ok, just NMS.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
I pretty much like all of them except Orion--too celestial for me. My favs are Seraphina, Persephone, Liv, and Lavender for a girl. Evander for a boy--it was on my name list but DH vetoed.

Colette- NMS, reminds me of a trashy girl
Lenore- Pretty, I don't think I would personally use it
Seraphina- Same as Lenore, pretty, but I'd never use it
Persephone- No. Just no.
Greer- Just doesn't sound good. Too harsh maybe?
Wren- This is a last name to me.
Aveline- I like it.
Arden- NMS
Liv-Not sure I like it alone. Maybe as a nn.
Lavender- Lavender is a color.
Alistair- Kind of like it. I think it'd be a cute mn.
Orion- no.
Evander- Not too bad. Sounds incomplete though.**Good luck to gatorwife,MissIntentional&corinne2010! Congrats to Piper2009!
Lenore - It would be an interesting way to get to Nora as a nn, but it's not as appealing to me as Honora or Eleanor.
Seraphina - I'm not on the Seraphina bandwagon at all. It's way too frilly and a bit pretentious, as well.
Persephone - See "Seraphina." The same applies.
Greer - Greer Garson's gorgeousness aside, it's not an attractive name to me.
Wren - Love Wren! I prefer it as a mn, but I think it's charming either way.
Aveline - Sounds like a transportation company.
Arden - NMS, but I think it would grow on me.
Liv - Looks incomplete. I like it as a nn for Olivia.
Lavender - I really like this as a mn, yet dislike it totally as a fn.
Alistair - Like, but not love.
Orion - I put this in the "trying too hard" category.
Evander - NMS, but it's okay.
Colette, Lenore are pretty
Seraphina sounds pretentious.
Persephone is a great middle name if you're Greek.
Greer is a last name to me, so unless it's in your family, I'd go with no.
Wren is a bird, so I'm not getting how it's a name. Also, if your child can't pronounce "r", it will be a hard childhood.
Aveline is nice, but it seems a bit made up.
Arden--see wren
Liv is a great nn for Olivia, Livia, etc. but isn't a name on its own.
Lavender is a color or the girl from Harry Potter. NMS.
Alistair is cute, but pretentious.
Orion is just odd, unless you're really into astronomy or archery.
Evander, like Holyfiend? nms.

Most of the names certainly fit a type, don't they? Sounds like a character list from a Shakespearean play about fairies or something.
Colette - I've only come across this name once in real life, back in highschool, and thought it was one of the most unique names. Beautiful. Had toyed with it when I had a daughter, but the fact that the highschool girl I knew was such a meanie, eventually didn't allow the name to stick.
Lenore - can't get past the association with Poe
Seraphina - Pretty for in the movies, doesn't sound good for real life
Persephone - eh
Greer - Came in #2 for my daughter's name. Has a heritage tie for me, so I like it.
Wren - Sounds too teenage-movie for me
Aveline - I could get used to the idea
Arden - No
Liv - Hate it, loathe it
Lavender - Seriously?
Alistair - Very old fashioned, but does not conjure an old man image...I've suggested it, playfully, but was turned down by DH
Orion - No
Evander - Didn't care for it on Holyfield, would not want it for my son
For the girls I like: Seraphina, Colette, Greer, and Arden. Liv will always be a nn for Olivia to me.
For the boys I like Alistair and Orion. Alistair was actually on our short list of boy names, but I ended up vetoing it because I couldn't think of anything to shorten it to that I actually liked and calling a small child Alistair all the time seemed kind of cumbersome.
I love Greer, Arden, Liv and Alistair.
Really, really like Seraphina and Wren.
Okay = Colette, Lavender, and Evander.
NMS = Lenore and Aveline.
Just don't....('cause they're pretentious/trying too hard) = Persephone and Orion.

I like the spelling of Grier for a girl and my uncle's name is Havander so Evander appeals to me for a boy.
Colette - I think this is pretty
Lenore - I like it but make sure she's prepared for a lifetime of Poe references
Seraphina - Dislike
Persephone - I like it but it is hard to pull off
Greer - Love it.
Wren - Too hippie for me.
Aveline - Dislike, it looks like a severely misspelled Evelyn.
Arden - Dislike.
Liv - Only as a nickname for Olivia or something
Lavender - I like it
Alistair - I like it
Orion - ok, difficult to pull off
Evander - Dislike

Love Colette and Arden, they're on my list!
I actually like most of these, except to me Greer is a last name only, Seraphina and Persephone are just too "mythical" I guess, and Evander= Holyfield.
Colette - I don't think I like any -ette names; it makes them seem fragile and frilly to me, maybe because -ette also makes words diminutive?
Lenore - LOVE. The Poe connection would be a plus to me.
Seraphina - I think this name is gorgeous. The only thing I don't like is that it would be tempting to shorten to Sera, which sounds like Sarah, which I don't like.
Persephone - I love Greek mythology, so I'd be proud of anyone who had the cajones to use this one. I was really into the idea of naming a daughter Demeter for a little while, until it was unceremoniously shot down by everyone I know. Actually, I still love it. Damn.
Greer - Dislike. I just think it's an ugly sound.
Wren - Bird. Or, and Stimpy. Either way, don't love it.
Aveline - Pretty but a little trendy sounding.
Arden - I could get behind this for a boy.
Liv- Like it as a nickname for Livia or Olivia, not so much by itself.
Lavender - Love it as a middle name.
Alistair - Like it a lot. Don't like any of the obvious nns though.
Orion - Love it! See my previous mythology feelings. It's on my list.
Evander - Also on my list. I like that it's unusual.
We actually have similar tastes in names.
Colette - Love.
Lenore - It's okay, but reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe.
Seraphina - NMS, it's a little ren fair-y.
Persephone - NMS, it's a little ren fair-y.
Greer - NMS; the county I grew up in is Greer. Sounds masculine.
Wren - Love. Might consider if I didn't hate birds so much.
Aveline - Meh. To me, this is another in a long line of Evelyn spin-offs.
Arden - Like it, but it reminds me of perfume.
Liv - Love it as a stand-alone, and as a nn for Olivia.
Lavender - Dislike.
Alistair - Dislike.
Orion - Dislike.
Evander - Meh. It's a little dramatic/emo-sounding for me.
I really like Seraphina and Alistair(which I am considering as a middle name)
I like the bolded.
