Parenting after a Loss

When did your LO start the teething process?

DS has been a bit more fussy than usual and a drooling monster lately.  Yesterday while I was at work he started having one of his total meltdowns (that have been happening more in the last couple days.) Well H decided to give a dose of baby tylenol and within a short time LO was calm, and even smiled a bit.

At first H thought DS had a headache and I'm trying to put all of the pieces together because I'm just not 100% sold on the idea that it was that. DS has been moving his hands towards his head a lot when he gets fussy, when we pick him up he tries to burrow his head into our shoulder, he's sucking on his fist a bit more (he even broke off the bewb this morning during nursing to suck on his fist) and all of the drooling..

Is three months to early to start teething, what else could this be?

Re: When did your LO start the teething process?

  • I feel like my LO started to teethinga round 4 months, however her first tooth just broke through when she was 8 months.  It was a long process of drooling, chewing on everything, fussiness, etc.

    Good luck!

  • DD got her first tooth at 6 months.  She was drooling a lot, sucking on fingers, and chewing on things for a month or two before that.

So yeah, it could be teething.

  • L got her first tooth a little after 6 months.  Starting about 4 months, she was a drool monster with everything in her mouth.  Sounds like it could be teething.

  • DS started showing signs of teething at 3.5 months. His first tooth broke through last week and I suspect another is right behind it.

  • Lucas was like that around 3 months. He could be teething now and still not get any teeth for a few months.

  • Hey girl! Sounds like we are dealing with similar symptoms. My otherwise angel baby that I always know how to calm down has been like a little devil in the evenings lately! Chomps away at her fists, drools like crazy, screams when I go to feed her, pulls away from the breast, arches her back & her little arms & legs are constantly going like she's unsettled. I tried to give her a frozen teether to munch on and she wanted nothing to do with it. Last night I also gave her some baby motrin and she was calm and went to sleep. Tonight I had to lay her down and let her CIO. It took less than 5 minutes before she passed out. It's so frustrating, I wanted to cry right along with her :(

  • It does sound a lot like teething to me. DS started doing those exact same things around the 3 month mark as well. I was convinced he'd have teeth ASAP based on those, and his first one cut through 2 days after he turned 5 months old. So unfortunately, I think these symptoms can last for days, weeks or even months.
