Do you use a spoon or a knife for jelly? What about for peanut butter?
I'm convinced that DH does it wrong--he uses a knife for the jelly and a spoon for PB. I use a knife for PB and a spoon for jelly.
Thank you for taking the time to answer such an important question
Re: Very important question...settle a husband/wife argument
knife for both.
but IF I was going to use a spoon, it would be for the jelly. Peanut butter sticks. Jelly doesn't!

Ditto. I get the pb out with the knife, spread it, get the jelly out with a spoon and then spread it with the pb knife.
I hate pb&j, though, so I've only done this a handful of times.
I use a knife for both.
Knife for both.
PB first: Spread it first, then wipe it clean on the other piece of bread. Then dip it into the jelly and spread.
This exactly!
I love this stuff. It's like "how do you fold socks?" Everyone has different ways.
At any rate, my natural way is to do the peanut butter first, wipe the knife clean on the other slice of bread and then stick it in the jelly. HOWEVER, d/t Joey's nut allergy, when making Cam peanut butter and jelly, I have to put the jelly on first (as to not risk any cross contamination) and THEN get the peanut butter.
So, in my house, it's ok to have jelly in the peanut butter but not the other way around!
And yes, I realize I could just use another knife!
This is the correct way to do it!
this is exactly what I do.

You are 100% correct. The pb gets stuck in the curve of the spoon, which I hate, and jam slides off a knife. So the correct way is to use a knife for the pb and a spoon for the jam.
I understand not wanting to get out 2 utensils, but I can't mix them anyway, as TB would rather eat his own arm than jam, and ML will eat both but if her morning jam on her toast has pb on it, I end up eating it (not necessarily a bad thing).
yep
I lick it in between.
Seriously, I do it like Yoda.

Another vote for 1 knife for both.
It's not double dipping - I don't lick the knife until it's all done!
But if I was making a dozen sandwiches I might get out a spoon for the jelly. That makes sense. So you're both wrong, but he is more wrong. Feel better?
Ditto
This is exactly what I do. I don't want them co-mingled anyway, but DS hasn't been exposed to nuts yet, so it's extra important that the PB (or almond butter for school-bound sandwiches) doesn't hang out in the jelly jar!
This.
That's exactly how I do it.
This.

Knife for both. I don't lick the knife till after. But then I swirl my (clean -- or mostly clean) finger in the PB and tell myself there are no calories in that little extra.
I love pb&j.
Knife and knife.
