Anyone in British Columbia?

We might be moving to the Vancouver area in a year and I am trying to get some info. If you live there, what is the job market like? What is approximate rent on a 2-3 bedroom house/apt? What are the winters like? Is it very multicultural? Any info would be appreciated!

Re: Anyone in British Columbia?

  • Vancouver winters are mild, rarely snows but a lot of rain. All.the.time. Vancouver is pretty multicultural, primarily Asian and Indian and particularly in outlying areas (burnaby, surry.) The job market depends on what you do. Rent also depends on where you want to live, but Vancouver proper is pricey.

Thanks! What cities are outside Vancouver with a commute of no longer than 30 minutes?

  • 30 min is a bit of a stretch, lots of traffic. Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, North Vancouver.
  • I'm on the Island and you couldn't pay me to move to the mainland. It's just too pricey and the commutes to get from a decent family home to town is just too much. It's a great city if you are a young couple, but for a family it's a lot of time wasted in traffic.
